There are 2 threads on the subject. Larry Fine reports that we're just weeks away (end of August 06) to finsh base phase 2 in a much older discussion ribbon here: Re: How much is left for this project?
----------------------------------------Be my guest....the various percentages skips and the years crunched (24,650 divied by 3.5 copies average, still making about 7000 from 11000 years) would suggest, that what the labs have received back or have processed is way behind on the crunched work at WCG.

![]() It seems that there are more work in this phase than we expected. |

FightAIDS@Home ( http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/ ) updated on 01 September 2006 (at least, this is when I noticed it) to say 43% completion of Stage 2.

I have a few questions how they measure the progress:
1. Is it measured against total possibility? 2. Is is measured against a target docking energy? ex. - 30 will be the end point. Theoretically what is the acceptable docking energy? And What is the possible best docking energy? 3. Is it measured against compounds ( like thousand ) to be tested and the top 20 or so compounds with the best docking energy will be selected? Thanks a lot... |

Hello JOSEPH421,
As far as I know, progress in a stage is the number of dockings done measured against the total number of dockings needed. That is: ChemBridge (500,000) vs. Wild Type HIV Protease (1) Top Hits from Stage 1 vs. Mutant HIV Protease Panel (270) NCI Diversity Set (1,900) vs. Monomeric HIV Protease (20) The unknown number of dockings are the Top Hits from Stage 1. If we start keeping track of results returned and percentage progress achieved, we ought to be able to figure out how many results (divided by ?3.1?) it will take to complete Stage 2. Which is why I am starting to record these figures when the FAAH website updates the progress percentage. ![]() Lawrence |

At this speed we need until october or perhaps november to finish phase 2.
Does anybody think othervise ![]() |

Well, I think the same. It will need about one year to finish phase 2.
With the increasing numbers of computers and the increasing of calculationspeed, it may be finished in the middle of the next summer. |

I think the reason why it is taking longer than expected to finish Phase 2 is that the World Community Grid software now automatically defaults CPU utilization to 60% rather than 100% like it used to. To get back up to 100% requires end users to manually change their preferences. At 60% this will about double the time required to finish Phase 2. Right now we have processed about 12,100 years of data mostly at the 60% CPU utilization rate. Being presently at about 43% completion of Phase 2 I estimate that Phase 2 will be completed somewhere between January and March of next year, perhaps a bit longer depending what further processing is needed.

Have there been any papers published based on the work that our computers are doing in their spare time? Where can I find the references (journal, volume, authors, title)?
If no papers have been published yet, when will they be published? |
