Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I now have a Dell PowerEdge 860 with ubuntu 12.04 running on it @2,80ghz with 4gigs of memory, and of course World Community Grid

This summer I have plans to learn more about ubuntu server so this should be a good test machine for me

Very nice! Please keep us posted, and send useful tips as you learn! One of many summer projects for me also is to get a server going under Ubuntu server. I hope I get to it!

Sure is aerodynamic, maybe they planned it to be hydrodynamical also thinking
Have to admit that upholstery looks quite neat, usually that kind of concept is not very long lasting on local climate..
Hope this will be exception that verifies rule..

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

That looks like the hull of a ship. Is it made out out wooden strips ? Are they sealed and/or varnished ? If it is facing south I would think it would fade to a weathered gray over time. It looks like an innovative design.

Cheers

Coating seems to be some mystery also, only mention I found that it has been covered with bio -wax utilizing nano technology.

Time will show how it will handle...

I have one of those too. Nice cards for the money.
Are you testing it out on some other projects while you wait for WCG?

Does anyone know if WCG is going to support ATI GPU on Mac when they get this GPU project off and running? I have a 5770 on my Mac Pro 1.1 and would like to use it here.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It should work on your Mac. Boinc recognize the 5770? Might have to email kneed to make sure.
That Mac pro running dual or quad core chips? Can't remember if you upgraded or not. I put 2.33Ghz ones in mine before selling it.
