Sounds like late fall. Post a pic of this gloomy climate. Here we go... Road down from my home hill, there is not really any leafs on trees yet.. Those tiny birches look like have some, but there is some optical illusion on there because there is half mail those on row.... Single tree give a liiitle a bit different angle... So, some very nice arctic spring here ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, freezing weather and early Sunday, so went to Helsinki to have some breakfast... With this combination streets are empty and it is possible to have some own privacy.. On these kind of mornings, I just like Helsinki quite much.... Darn, there is my reflection on last image, well only waist down, so still in incognito... Apropoo, that house is carrying name "Pohjola" = "The North" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by ultimaThule at May 6, 2012 8:08:20 AM] |

Nice pictures. The architecture reminds me of a number of old buildings in St. Paul and Minneapolis, some of which have been razed. However, a few have been preserved such as http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-...Saint_Paul_Minnesota.html .

Looking at these pictures reminds me of Germany. Was stationed there 92-95. Sure miss it. Thanks for the photos.

Quick question. When upgrading boinc on windows, should I empty the cache first or no big deal. Have never upgraded on windows. Linux is real easy. I put 6.12.34 on my second pc and like how that version is set up compared to 6.10.xx. Or if there is a better version, let me know. Thanks.

No need to empty the cache...In fact, I didn't even shut down boinc before installing the newest version. Just installed right over it, and it worked perfectly taking about a minute

It's not necessary to empty your cache to update but if for some reason you need to go back to version 6 there are some steps needed before downgrading. There was a minor bug found after 7.0.25 was released that only seems to effect MilkyWay GPU tasks so if you don't run them you're good. I believe there is a 7.0.27 version that fixes the M@H issue.

Thanks for the help. Looks like 7.0.25 is the latest recommended. I'll stick with 6.12.34 until they fix the bug for milkyway. Thanks again.

I'm running MW GPU work exclusively on a Windows machine and all validate without issue. It's a cosmetic thing and I seldom even notice it. |

Went smooth which I thought it would. Better to ask first to insure. Is there I big difference with v7 vs 6 series?

It shows up in red on BoincTasks. ( High priority) ![]() Went smooth which I thought it would. Better to ask first to insure. Is there I big difference with v7 vs 6 series? No big differences. The most notable are the settings for cache. You now have minimum work buffer and max additional work buffer instead of connect every x days and additional work buffer. I read somewhere that setting these opposite from the old settings work best. Minimum higher, maximum lower. FWIW I use 0.5 and 0.2 I think there is also a new feature that will download a new task a few minutes before your last running task ends if you use a 0 setting on both so there is no dead CPU time. You also need version 7 if you want to run POEM GPU tasks. They will not run on anything lower.
