A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. >From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are ‘citizens’. Without them, we are ‘subjects’.

During WW II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

Re: A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

The 1.4 Million Americans that were killed from gun homicides in the last 67 years is a small price to pay to keep us all from being rounded up and exterminated.

Re: A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In the early 20th Century the United Kingdom established gun control.....no dissidents have been rounded up and shot!!!

The next time someone talks in favour of gun control please remind them of this information.

You won’t see this data on the NRA Website or Charlton Heston disseminating this information. wink

Re: A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

Okay No pressure Keep the Guns...

Just get rid of those lethal Weapons of Mass Destructions ... Cars

Motor vehicle traffic deaths
Number of deaths: 42,031
Deaths per 100,000 population: 13.9

So much more deadly compared to firearm deaths

All firearm deaths
Number of deaths:31,224
Deaths per 100,000 population: 10.4
[ Source http://www.cdc.gov/ ]

In Both case's its not the Car or the Gun that is the worrying thing. Its dipstick Thats in charge of it .

Difference is of course the car is intended to aid Mobility

The Gun intended to stop Mobility

Re: A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

The right to keep and bear arms is far far more practical, and there's no need to look to other countries to justify it.

Not long ago, a friend of mine had her home broken into. Only her husband came home early and caught the guy as he was loading up his car with all their things. He pulled in behind the car, blocking it in.

The burglar then made an attempt to forcibly remove the man from his car and steal it. Except that this man has a license to carry a concealed weapon. As soon as he pulled the gun on the burglar, the burglar ran away. No shots were fired.

Re: A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

...and I remember the British tourist in the States a couple of years ago who got lost, knocked at someone's door to ask directions and was shot THROUGH the door and killed....the judge called it "justifiable homicide" as the householder had felt threatened by the knock on the door!....sickening!

Re: A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

Could have used an alarm, stun-gun, mace..., or just had the wit to lock the door!
Make guns more accessible and it's the burglar who will have the gun.
Guns are an American problem - it's still the wild west.
In civilized Europe we don't go around with guns in our pockets, and you don't hear about shoot outs ever day.

MORE AMERICANS KILLED BY GUNS THAN BY WAR IN THE 20TH CENTURY

As many Americans died from gunshot wounds from '79 to '97 (18years), as died in American wars (1775 to 1991, 216years).
That's about 36,000 people a year.
Gun deaths per 100,000 population (for the year indicated):
    Homicide Suicide Other (inc Accident)

    USA (2001) 3.98 5.92 0.36 skull
    Italy (1997) 0.81 1.1 0.07
    Switzerland (1998) 0.50 5.8 0.10
    Canada (2002) 0.4 2.0 0.04
    Finland (2003) 0.35 4.45 0.10
    Australia (2001) 0.24 1.34 0.10
    France (2001) 0.21 3.4 0.49
    England/Wales (2002) 0.15 0.2 0.03
    Scotland (2002) 0.06 0.2 0.02
    Japan (2002) 0.02 0.04 0

An American is 18 times as likely to kill themselves just messing around with a gun than a Japanese is likely to be murdered by someone with a gun. Wonder why? tongue
