Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I've been quite busy lately and have not had a lot of time to see to the crunching. I have been watching the forum activity on the Vista break in period. I think it will be at least until service pack 1 or maybe 2 before I would take that plunge, at least on anything I thought was critical to run right the first time. I think go slow and test, test, test. That being said, I don't have the horsepower in the hardware to run it yet anyway. I may just get an addditional P4 up and running if I can salvage another power supply. It will be a good weekend project.

Does anyone know what happened to elegrew? 9999 points. What a place to give it up. It should not be long before Growler passes me up. I see we just passed 8000 results smile

Good crunching to all

Cheers

Sgt.Joe

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Hey Sgt.

I have been dual-booting Vista on my macine at work and I am not that impressed. I used to get excited about new Windows releases and Vista let out all of the wind out of the sails. Instead of going to Vista, why don't you give OS X a try? (puts on flack jacket)

I made the switch to Mac a year and a half ago and I'm never going back. (Except for work computing)

Hey, I'm getting ready to hit 100,00 points! I can't beleive how quickly Growler is catching up to you. Won't be long until Gollumer is looking behind his back.....

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks for the info IM TBONE. I seem to recall OS X is based off of Unix. Maybe I will give it a try when I get a system capable of supporting it. I would like to give one of the flavors of Linux a try also. So much to do and so little time smile

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

If you are interested in Linux, Try Ubuntu or Kubuntu (I prefer KDE so I use Kubuntu)

Download the CD and boot off of it, you can run it as a live CD before installing it so you can try before you uh, install!

And BOINC works well on it!
