Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

What a pity sad How can you have them improved? Replacement surgery?

They aren't that bad, but the jump starts and harsh stops are the problem. I'm tall and more the heavy weighted type of guy (even when fully trained). So my knees are my weak point for that kind of sport.
No. The last time I tried was some five years ago. I remebered it well and enjoyed it. In slow motion. Double. It was with an organisation called 'Senior Exercise', so we were in the same age bracket. The too old age. However, I acquired a 'golf elbow' that took me 2 months with a support bandage to get over .... they make those handgrips far too slim in my opion. What do you think?

Can't believe that you put yourself in the too old age, dear mermaid.
But one sign of getting old is talking about all diseases, disablements a.s.o. We should quit talking about the downside and start talking about the bright side. What do you think?
Wow! I'm so impressed. Is this a special talent you have?
You'll know all about min of meer and ezelsbruggetje then.
What motivates you to go on board in all these languages?

If you would ask my wife she would agree to the question if I'm talented in learning languages. To be honest I don't know if I'm talented or not. My score in school was ok but not good.
But I had always fun (and still have) learning something new. Keeps my brain trained.
And it is satisfying when you can talk to other people in their native language during vacation or in social media. I have friends from different countries all over the world.
So I started two years ago to refresh the languages I've already learned (except latin) and started new ones.
I'm doing small lessons every day.

I’m afraid I guessed him a bit older than he really is,
and that could be where the decision tips the wrong way …
He seems to be a little sensitive about his age worried and I may have offended him ....

Yes, you've guessed me a little bit older than I really am. But don't worry about that or that you may have offended me. You have not by the way. How should you know.
I am absolutely fine and have no problems with my age.

Hey, young man! What should I say?

Hahaha, you're too kind, my dear mermaid.

Which kind of sport do you do now since your knees are not for jumping around?
Can't believe that you put yourself in the too old age, dear mermaid.
Thank you. I’m really flattered. You have checked my Forum Profile, haven’t you? laughing
Talking about Forum Profile: It would be nice if you could update yours
so we all can see you are from Germany, please <it’s a pet peeve of mine blushing >.
I always thought of you as American with a German last name because of the way you spell ’Eric’.
Flattering earns you some instant points on your ’Rosie account’ should you ever decide to go Base Camping with us biggrin
nerd Did I mention that we begin a trek af team Kraland on May 12?

You’re right.

There are so many things to enjoy in life no matter your age
– well, I can only talk for the experience life has given me so far …
I just returned from a walk through a forest with all those smashing green colours. Aren't they especially pretty this year?
You know beech trees. I always thought Danish beeches were the prettiest in the world
– until all of a sudden I parked next to a forest of German beeches … and let my gaze travel up, up, up smile
love struck Never saw such majestic ones before

Exactly my thoughts. My next project is to find out how to delete

And it is satisfying when you can talk to other people in their native language during vacation or in social media. I have friends from different countries all over the world.
How did you get them? Do you travel a lot?
Again I agree. My German is haltering. I stutter when I speak German. I try my best.
And do you know what? The Germans are so happy that I try my best, that they understand me
no matter how many grammatical mistakes I make … I’m so grateful.
My German teacher says: ’You will be understood’ – and he’s right. Germans are very tolerant.
adriverhoef has done his best to teach me Dutch. It doesn't go all that well. How is your Dutch?
Latin: I regret I skipped that in school sad
I am absolutely fine and have no problems with my age.
That’s how it should be. I’m glad you’re not offended

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Morning Base Campers!
Kraland II trek
this badge could be yours
Tomorrow the Kraland II trek will start – at the same time as Kraland – IX Challenge.
The timing is very good.
This committed team just passed 300 years nudged forward by Saphir12 and her co-captain stefada.
They deserve to win their own challenge, but at the same time we can boost their standing in several other challenges
– while we risk to hurt SeriousCrunchers’ standings. Sorry, sujo1 sad
Well, you cannot win them all - for acpartsman

Our line-up is impressive:
BladeD is in the affirmative – and he’s home biggrin
Urden lives there and will of course be dealt a badge
Fossaw will join when he returns from Langeland
Doneske will join when he returns from foreign lands
yodap@BC also roams in foreign lands and promised; for those two Base Campers we invented ’the laggard badge’
little mermaid is already there
Acpartsman is hoped to blast in at the beginning just to let them know whom Kraland is cool
davwhite5xq7 usually goes where acpartsman goes
TLD and
tanner2 are hoped to come as well
mike047 are you still tired - you cannot do anything about your age wink
Anyone else?
Eric_Kaiser are you tempted?
PecosRiverM it's been a long, long time
deltavee it's been an even longer time. A long time. A long one. A very long time. Incredibly long. What a long time has it been.
acpartsman would like to say hello to you. Too.
Just come as you are and as if we played Hexagame yesterday. You know the more time pass the higher the hurdle grows smile
I think we’ll have a very strong crew in the making.

Please check in with Team Kraland
and please register here when you arrive.
Team Kraland has 635 members, and that’s a lot to sift through to find you
China, Decrypthon, UK, Australia ...
Here we come
- we come with peace and good intentions cool

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Fossaw,

Joyeux anniversaire !

----------
Happy Birthday !

I would not elaborate here, that this is not really the place, but I quite agree with you, that we should not give too much credit to benchmarks & Co. Especially that following how we program, we already have not the same results.
wink

Eric_Kaiser,

----------
Sorry, but all that I learned from my German classes is:

Guten Tag / Bonjour / Good Morning
Auf Wiedersehen / Aurevoir / See you later
Danke / Merci /Thanks
I would like a beer please

Les Français et les langues étrangères ...
----------
French and foreign languages
shhh

Little Mermaid,

----------
I will try to explain to you what Fossaw was talking about computing and the announced computing power. But I'm not sure how to get there.

I take for example a classic in programming, the mathematical function: factorial. The formula being : !n = 1 * 2 * 3 .... * n.
There are two ways to program it:

The sequential way: One writes a loop which says that it is necessary to multiply the variable by the following integer, until this whole evening equal to n.

The recursive way: We say that !n is equal to !(n-1) * n with! 1 = 1. The program will then calculate all factorials up to! 1, to return to that requested.

In recursive, the code will be cleaner (clear and clear thinking ), and I pass the technical details, normally faster. Why did I talk about the sequential then? Because the recursive is very resource intensive, when sequentially we just need a variable, a constant and a loop.
We do not pay much attention, with the current PCs (the evidence we crunch), but when I was at the Technological University (computers were not the same), we had the test in lesson. Recursively, they crashed (Memory Overflow) from !10, while sequentially they were able to calculate up to more than !100.

So we see that on the same machine, the way that is going to be coded a simple mathematical function, changes a lot of things. I let you imagine all the mathematical functions and algorithms used by the software of your machines.
Starting from there, talking about the announced power of a machine is not really significant.

Here, I hope I have helped you understand, that I can not explain better.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

stefada, I think your explanation is very interesting
– I almost understood some of it in spite of my sugar cold brain.
You see, I had to reset my Sony called Saphir12-Nathalie to its factory settings.

The culprit I understand was the Android/Sony backup software.
As I read the Sony forum
– which is in a very foreign language
I deduct that a file is made in the internal storage of the phone before it is shipped to an online account or an SD-card.
I don’t know how much storage is needed, but I discovered that the backup program ran for hours and was stuck at 50%.
I thought it was because my SD-card was damaged in the water
- I dropped the phone in water – it should be waterproof – I’m a mermaid after all
It got a funny name after that swim.
I bought a new SD-card and backed up. And backed up. All of a sudden I was completely out of internal storage.
At the time I didn’t know about the backup technique.
Suddenly, I could at best download two WUs, and the phone told me I could not update apps because I was out of storage.
OK, I tried to find those incomplete files. No luck. So I had to reset to factory setting.
It is time consuming and brain draining!
I could have cried.
I’m happy to have a list of my apps which makes is easy to reestablish. But, boy, it’s hard on you.

And I couldn't get BOINC to work. Tried four times.
Suddenly I found the handle that needed to be turned - then it worked. Phew!

What do you think about a software that needs so much storage? Is that a smart thing, stefada?

rose

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

BladeD,

----------
Welcome for this trek! I hope for once, thanks to the help of Base Camp, we will win a challenge. (Well, above all, we do better than the other times, but must aim first)
good luck

Acpartsman,

----------
Delighted that you come too! I'm still going to be jealous of your (effective) computing power, but we'll show them who Team Kraland is!
(nice people, with a madman who wants to recruit the entire planet)
wink

----------
* stefada does a weird dance, he calls it voodoo breton (I assure you, it does not exist, it's a joke):
O deltavee, you who participated in the first trek in Team Kraland (even if it was a day, WOW!) ...
Hear your crunching friends who call you, and join us!
angel

----------
All the others, of course it's nice that you participate, but if you want me to answer you personally, post!

Little Mermaid,

----------
I do not know anything about it on the phone, but to tell you, mine does not even receive MSM. I need to use a link received by SMS, on my PC.

But in principle, I do not find it normal. A backup program, logically, it overwrites (replaces old files with new ones) after a few days. There is not an option somewhere to limit the number of backups?

It's better to ask someone else, like Saphir12.

blushing Many of the names are in my dreams, stefada
I'll be happy for everyone that comes smile
Yes, I think a backup program should not need vacant storage almost the size of what it is backing up ....
16GB - basic OS and a few apps are 10GB ... have to study that some more
I would like very much to see your wild Breton dance biggrin

rose
J'aimerais beaucoup voir ta danse sauvage bretonne [: D]
