Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Shop talk
I hope you had the chance to look at Matthias Zeller’s penguins. Amazing pictures.
What are you doing? Are you part of any challenges?

Elgiganten
In December I had my Sony Xperia called Saphir12-Nathalie repaired at the Sony hospital in Sweden.
The microphone didn’t work. I had talked it to death. No-no, just joking. I hardly ever talk on the phone.
She came back. Microphone worked. The back cover is such a sealed thing that is dust and waterproof,
and the re-sealing of that was faulty. It came loose. In January she was admitted in Sweden again.
New back cover sealing. Soon it began to become unglued, and one day after she had GPS-duty on the dashboard
with this wonderful May sun warming her heart and soul it went crazy. She needed help – or rubber bands.

This will be a procedure of many steps. The first one I took today. I bought one more Sony Xperia.
It only has four cores, but the back cover and the battery are brand new, and the internal memory is double.
It was inexpensive, too. DKK 888 ~ €120 ~ $140. I think I’ll call him D.
They only came in black, but the one on display was white, so I made the salesman remove the pilferproofing
– that was not easy for him
and then they had to remove the demo-program that would otherwise delete any apps I put into it.

Next will be making a copy of what Saphir12-Nathalie was
- her apps are not fully reinstalled after the factory reset
a second SIM card and a new battery for Saphir12-Nathalie which must be done at a special repair shop
– with a note that she was ill before the battery surgery – and hopefully a sealant that will stick. I still have a warranty for that.

I noticed that BladeD seems to get a three-month warranty on the HP computer he has put his eyes on.
That is not very much compared to the Danish two-year warranty.
They even contemplate making it longer for electronics, I think I read. Three years.

Beaches and beeches
Still had a few walks to catch up with. Chose Vemmetofte Strand walk. I have put my pictures in an album on Facebook.
I hope some of you have an account so you can see them if you like.
They in no way compare to Matthias Zeller’s or RoundFour’s photographs.

@ TLD: It says: ”You can use this link to share this photo album with anyone, even if they don't have a Facebook account. Anyone with the link will be able to see your photo album.”
Isn’t it correct?

I guess that means...not needed? smile
No. It means an impoverishment of my language as I see it.
Not with that link. smile
No. It looked like a grounding blushing

Thank you for your attention, and your attention to detail, BladeD biggrin
EDIT: I just found I had a bit more I needed to say cool

Yep, I noticed that. wink

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Thank you for your feedback, TLD. It’s easier for me to link this way, and it’s nice that you, too, can visit Denmark this way.
Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Shop talk
Base Camp’s potential crew is getting stronger.
BladeD is expecting a new computer to arrive today,
so he’s boiling water and ripping up sheets and seems a little testy.
How many cores/kernels/whatever does it have?
With much gnashing of teeth I got my new Sony Xperia L1 baptized D connected to my wi-fi
– such endavours make me very nervous
downloaded BOINC and made the right settings for this ’device’, and now he’s running
Zika and Small Childhood Cancer like his brother and sister. He only has four kernels, but otherwise he looks strong.
He gave me a surprise.
His socket for the recharge cable is off the standard of those cables I already have.
I have to see if I can get some kind of adapter to use in my car and with my power bank.
What are they thinking of?
Ordering an extra SIM card should be a breeze, but I think there is something amiss
at the compartment where it shall go … just a sheet of cardboard???
I tried to put Saphir12-Nathalie’s SIM card there. No-no, not accepted, and not expected to be either.

Trek
acpartsman once crunched with The International Team. Jean-Pierre from Santiago, Chile, was the captain.
Jean-Pierre passed away, so the team needs a new captain.
flodisar is an active member, and he would contemplate applying for the vacant position as a captain.
If he does, it would be an obvious place to go trekking.
If so, we shall orient ourselves toward Sweden, an interesting place we never visited before.

little mermaid’s infirmery
I stay in contact with several crunchers. Most of them suffer some kind of malaise these days.
nap has a rheumatic knee and his post hell’s fire
Bearcat has his work cut out for him fusing discs in his spine
acpartsman is a gold medal sufferer from allergies
GeraldRube broke two legs in one go and is healing slowly and painfully Eric_Kaiser told us his knees don’t allow for racket sports any more
Guitar Man suffered a stroke and seems to come along slowly but surely
Fossaw wants his brain back in the form he knew it before his heart arrest ...
– did I forget any?
The newest admittance in the bed over in the corner is
ultimaThule who had an operation on his big toe due to a fairly dangerous bone infection.
I wish you all well

At one time Sony used a different memory card from everyone else!

I will believe that.
There was a time when every blacksmith everywhere had his own threading of screws, bolts, and nuts.

Yeah, that's the core of monopoly .... but why Sony does it today, I shall not know;
did they get a shipment of sockets real cheap?

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Shoptalk
None
Royal talk
Crown Prince Frederik celebrated his birthday
– 50 years –
with a trip through Copenhagen in an open coach with his wife
Crown Princess Mary from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

She’s doing her job really well. Thank you, Australia biggrin
May talk
It has brought joy and happiness this May in Denmark. The meteorlogists have already chalked up a factual remarkable record.
The old one is from 1889. The 2018 will be almost one degree Celsius higher.

The waters surrounding Denmark follow suit. Some 3-5 degrees Celsius warmer than for a ‘normal’ May,
so that alone will ensure we have a new record.
Warm nights.

Mobile phone talk
I’m between two phones.
Working on 50% each.
No SIM-card for one.
Waiting to hear what the rules for issuing one more are.
Frustrating.
When I download apps they have become so facelifted, I don’t recognize them, and I cannot operate them
… their interfaces are very complicated.
What happened to simplicity and functionality?
Is there some competition between app developers?

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Our weather here has been unusual as well, we have only had 6% of our normal rainfall for May, and the forecast is for very little for the rest of May. thinking
