Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Morning Base Campers!
Ongoing Trek #27 BBT was eerily quiet yesterday, almost moribund.
No singing was heard from the truckstop corner of the Base Camp Camp Ground.
LoneWolfs country tunes didn't play.
No new Campers arrived.
Let's chalk it down to everybody needing a day of rest.
If you want to start/expand your collection of Base Camp badges, now will be a good time to join Trek #27.
I know I enjoy the warmth sitting in my sunny spot sipping low fat milk, but otherwise I don't have any idea where I am.
The Maldives? Do you know?

As to upcoming by May 1st - U.S.Air Force @ Collatz Conjecture Outpost Trek #2:
- Dan Holtz's temporarily named thread where we can post at the U.S. Air Force has been renamed into:
Collatz Outpost Trek
I don't know whether you have this saying in English
- if not, you no doubt have another one expressing the same with a different phrasing:
Speech is silver, silence is gold.
Well, at Outpost Trek #2 it's opposite.
Hog Heaven!
pig
The AF/Navy numbers?
Not good. Not good at all. Gap nearly doubled overnight.
Calls for some serious thinking. Input welcome.
What would be an attainable aim?
Your ideas can be downloaded for discussion in The Iiglo 2.
The bright spot: Base Camp University is now open to all kinds of education. First faculty to sign up for is Sport's Stats School.

Good Morning Base Campers!
Trek #27 BitBendersTech: One more quiet day passed. Events include:
Cruncher Pete had to leave early because of other commitments. Still, you earned your badge when the trek is over, Pete.
LoneWolf was awarded the Rosie for his many contributions to Base Camp. He's just about the only one who didn't notice.
Dan Holtz and little mermaid enrolled in Sport's Stats School. The teacher himself, however, turned out to be busy doing stats everywhere, so he dismissed class, and we'll just sit tight till he's ready.
The man-to-man talk at the truck-stop was resumed. Subdued voices with an occasional loud punctuation. Subject not for wimmin.

Upcoming Outpost Trek # 2 - U.S.Air Force @ Collatz Conjecture:
cswchan
interpreted my worries about how to at least prevent the Navy/Air Force gap from widening at this alarming rate as something to be fixed and put normal and mini-collatzes here, there and everywhere.
And he did it Now!
And not being afraid of the size of their boats, he exclaimed gung hoishly:
"Ok... I'm back... let's go catch some Navy..."
[He's Canadian, so I hope this is not taken as a declaration of war.]
And do you know what?
The gap only widened by about 2/5 of what it did yesterday!
You put a plug in the hole.
Well done, cswchan!

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Ted and chwchan

Nice to see your posts here
Current Trek #27 BitBendersTech: One more quiet day passed. As far as I have been able to pick up, the only news is that
dl1000v joined the trek. Welcome! Please help yourself to refreshments - and maybe a man-to-man-talk - over at the truck-stop corner.

Upcoming Outpost Trek #2 - U.S. Air Force @ Collatz Conjecture:
Not much to report here either, but the little there is, is pivotal:
cswchan not only did you stop the widening of the gap between Navy and Air Force, but you even caused it to narrow by some 2.5%.
I'm impressed!

On a touristy note: All over Denmark flags are flying today. Our Queen Margrethe II turns 71 just two days after the baptism of her twin grandchildren - a boy and a girl.
The parents of these are Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary who hails from Hobart, Tasmania. Christine from Australia, whom we discussed the whereabouts of yesterday in Base Camp, was enthusiastic about Mary. So are most Danes.
Princess Mary's father now has a job in Denmark. He teaches math at Denmark's leading boarding school just a couple of miles from my home. In fact he is included in the little film you'll find here standing at the blackboard in a classroom.
Herlufsholm Kostskole
On a personal note: My lower legs had developed into something I guess every male elephant would find hugely attractive. Went to the emergency ward for fear of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) which I have suffered before, being a MUTANT coagulation-wise. It took 5½ hours most of it waiting time being examined in every which way. To my relief they found nothing wrong. Just fluid for no particular reason.

Well, it seems as if I wake up every day with a certain quantity of words that I must spend .....
[I may be a mutant verbose-wise also ...]
Sorry about that.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Yes, I do.
And I take it your "too" means you have it.
So, I suppose it means that you also eat rat poison!!!!
biggrin
I'm enrolled in a self test program which is very convenient.
I literally went to an AK School (Anti-Koagulation) and passed an exam to be allowed to do this.
Do you have that as well?
In fact it's far more widespread in the population than people realize.
And I'm grateful to those who figured out what the workings are, how to test and how to treat.
I have noticed that Leiden also runs a DC project, and I intend to familiarize myself with what that is.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Not on the rat poison now, but they shot me up on it when I went it for surgery in November.

I only got tested last year. Would've saved me a lot of pain [literally] if I'd known earlier.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

OK, your rat poison treatment was time limited?
What do you mean by "shot you up on [rat poison] when you went for surgery?
I thought the idea was to reduce the anti coagulation effect so that you did not bleed too much. It wasn't vitamin K they gave you ahead of the surgery?
My treatment is for life. I'm not supposed to change my stripes or my genes. I measure my INR once a week on a nice little apparatus called "CoaguCheck", test strips, and needles and measure out my rat poison dose according to the result.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Apparently I'm not as bad. Yes, they gave me a shot of heparin, which was nervous making, considering the surgery was to stop internal bleeding! shock
