Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Uhm, it seems that I'm at two places at the same time now. I heard someone took a picture of me at the moon and — according to myself — I'm at Moon Flight Control, observing the lunar landing mission, while I'm also closely following Carol Beer's career in the Team top40.nl thread. (If you like the story of her career, please consider joining team top40.nl for a bit.) Anyway, here — at Base Camp, on Earth — I received this weird message - in a bottle - early this morning: "Giant steps are what you take, Walking on the moon, I hope my legs don't break, Walking on the moon…" They say a Police officer named Sally delivered the flask with the errand in it, reciting some mysterious poem.

And what a successful mission it is!
We've taken some historical pictures:

(This is it!...I've walked a few steps!...For the first time in the history of mankind there is an EXPLORER ON THE MOON!)

"Welcome on the moon, Mr Armstrong!"

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

We just left the outpost on the Moon, little brother.
Our whisky forms balls in our cabin - we cannot drink it
We are still on our top40.nl 2.0 trek - it lasts for the entire month of July.
It takes place here top40.nl
You have been here and earned your badge, but a revisit would be fine.
We lead the Small Team Race, and your help will probably make sure we will keep that position.

Actually liftoff from the moon was at 17:54 UTC. We are preparing for ascent and going through the final checklist. Countdown has commenced. 7 minutes to go.

Cheers coffee

Thank you for keeping this thread straight while I frolicked in cold war frigate,
a cortado, which turned out to be one number above espresso and with added milk and heart

and a homemade cone with homemade irresistible hazelnut ice cream
.... and the weather was glorious.

"Welcome Mr. Armstrong" makes me think of the movies Apollo 18 and Iron Sky. biggrin

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Aahh! Iron Sky in two words idea
- when a Finn recommended that one to me saying it was hilarious he spelled it in one word
Ironsky
- which sounds kind of Russian to which Finland borders - Russia of course - not Russian
and I have searched in vain for it for years ...
Now, acpartsman, with the help from you, the DVD is on its way to me biggrin
I hope it's more fun than sci-fi ...

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

worried Good Morning Base Campers!
Thank you for taking so good care of our space program, Base Campers.
Are we back on terra firma? worried
tanner2 came and went – didn’t even have time for a cup of coffee.
EDIT: I just checked our challenges.
We are #1 in the LLBXS78842 one that started today ahead of BOINCAustralia, ParkSinta -
Parquet y Tarima, the floor company from Spain that earned a Zika ruby three days ago,
BRASIL, and even Crunchers4Life. We are ahead of team Andrax in two out of three races and #1 in the Small Team Rallysmile

I promise: When the Crunchers4Life (normal duration) and MOT challenge are over,
Base Camp will not do any long treks until September tongue

For good measure, I’ll repeat:
What Base Camp does right now
We are on our top40.nl 2.0 trek which takes place here: top40.nl
Everybody is invited at any time during the entire month of July
This is the badge for trek top40.nl 2.0

Where I visited in Copenhagen, I had a great view at the new Amager Hill – an incinerator plant
that is designed by Bjarke Ingels (the architect on World Trade Center II).
It has a sloped roof that will serve as skiing piste in winter,
and the chimney will emit a smoke ring each time a milestone has been reached.
