You did say RISD, didn't you, Elaine?
----------------------------------------You like it because I color-coordinated the text in my siggy with it, right? It helps a little ![]() Let's take one more (I have many): Rhode Island is Famous for You Edit: The gentleman in the last picture is Buddy Cianci after whom the Family Guy H.S. (thanks pecos) is named. He is - sometimes - Mayor of Providence. Buddy threw a heavy ashtray at a man who had an affair with his wife. Buddy went to jail. Buddy was reelected when he came out. Good
Today feels so quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of yesterday when we had a New Camper. It is always fun, and this time it also softened the transition from trekking to daily life. So what now? Well, for one thing let's have some music - not any music - but music as (almost) only the Italians can make it - 2 or 3 notes and a wonderful arrangement with that special 'crack' that makes this mermaid float ... Ti Amo - so GP you have broken out the new bottle of Hot Sauce - have you found fork and knife yet? ![]() ![]() Well, Sunday I went for geocache #4. That one tried to kill me as well. And I didn't find that cache. No matter where I went, I was only 70 m away. I could close in to 1 m, but for the death of me I couldn't find it. It was jinxed. And my death? Well, I hope to survive - BUT it was there. Less than 1/32 inch. One smart creature. A tick. It itched at the back of my knee. A mirror showed me the sinner. Ripped it off alive. Had not settled for real yet. Science ought to be able to learn something from that clever heat seeking insect. How does he do it? ![]() Crawling, finding the very spot where the skin is soft? How does he do it? |

Yes, Anne-Lise, i did say Rhode Island School of Design.
----------------------------------------(We didn't reabbreviate it then and we certainly didn't call it Risdy.) I like your badge for many reasons. I'm back at Christians but I chat elsewhere, also. I love the RI song. Thanks for playing it so much....I must put it on my desktop. Stay as sweet as you are, don't let a thing ever change you. Elaine, you are better to me than anybody has ever been
- my mom included because she couldn't Thank you. Risdy housed an art museum. Went there once. Saw for the first time a painting by Vilhelm Hammershøi there. Went to Madrid, Spain, (where USAFA 82 was born) and saw a painting by Gilbert Stuart there at Reina Sophia Museo. He was THE portrait painter of George Washington and was born in Rhode Island. His birthplace is a museum now. Many places are worth visiting in Rhode Island, but Gilbert Stuart's birthplace must be the most charming. A very different version of the Rhode Island ditty: Rhode Island is Famous for You |

Good Morning Base Campers
If you don't have anything to say, it might be an idea just to shut up. Well, it's almost harder to do than to break up, but it's the right thing to do. Today RAMMIE receives his Rosie. I wanted to find a blues song for him. That did not go well, but having put something with "blue" into the search field, I was suggested "The Blues Brothers", and I clicked on "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" - what came up was not exactly the romantic tear jerker, I might have expected. Those guys reminds me of the avatar Hanski of The Christians use in the DCZone. Will check. This is for you, RAMMIE. Enjoy a great show - a tour de force in suits, ties and hats: Everybody Needs Somebody to Love This gem just seemed perfect as a celebration of the fact we now can boast of having a Texan trekking with us: Deep In the Heart of Texas Our musical department has already collected what is needed for the Base Camp 2 playlist. It's available for download here: Base Camp 2 playlist It's not nearly as bad as the Base Camp 1 playlist. Let's hope that neatness shall not repeat itself with the Base Camp 3 playlist. The two first entries up there look hopeful. And now to the very best treat of the day: A silent mermaid. - or maybe not |

GP does the Blues Brothers boogie with her morning coffee and newspaper. Election reports are in and the tax and spend councilman from her district of the city is voted OUT.
"I need you--you--you" she sings at the top of her lungs, sloshing coffee energetically. Her neighbor grins at her over the back fence and they raise their mugs to each other. |
