Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Morning Base Campers
RAMMIE has still not discovered he has a Rosie,
and I could NOT talk TLD into abusing the mass e-mail feature.
I took TLD's advice of PMing RAMMIE to heart, knowing it will hardly work ...

Joypipe from U.S. Air Force wanted to know some more about Base Camp and it's activities,
so, TLD, it was one proud mermaid who could give him the link to our newly renovated
"Information For The New Camper".
He asked if I was on Facebook. The same question I was asked by !yukon
- a Russian cruncher from Jekaterinburg who visited my "Where Are You From" thread.
Well, I had thought about it for quite some time, but considered it quite a mouthful.
But since two asked simultanously from East and West so to speak, I decided this was the time.
So there I am taking baby steps with two "friends".
Looks as a place where even my talking capacity can be outdone!

Pinky celebrates her 29th birthday.
In our Forum we have a thread for congratulating her,
and some steps upstairs from here, she has a cake and a cute song.

Apart from this, the grape vine has not picked up anything,
except for bjbdbest of Team Discovery being a woman - so good she told me before I fell in love ...

Let's have some music:
Yesterday we played Israel's winning song from 1978.
Denmark won two times. In 1963 we became #1 with a performance by Grethe & Jørgen Ingmann.
They were married. He was an accomplished guitarist and was on the American hit list with his - at the time -
technically advanced
(a tape recorder with multiple tracks he had invented himself and with he himself playing all the tracks)
performance of
Apache
Jørgen & Grethe Ingmann divorced, and she had a serious deroute through drinking to suicide.
This is their winning performance of
Dansevise

In AD 2000 Denmark wan again with a song performed by elderly laid-back
- and come-back Olsen Bros. who are not dead serious about it.

1963 - a very good year. The PD was born!

Women's clothes certainly fit differently in those days.

I'm happy to eat humble pie!
biggrin
RAMMIE came!
I have had a blues for him in mind ever since he told me blues were his favorites.
I think I found a good one yesterday. Don't miss the lyrics smile
Still Got the Blues
- just for you, RAMMIE, for doing all that reading night and day

So glad you liked it.
He tried his hand in Las Vegas
- they didn't care for him.
We do, right?
He finished his performance here by thanking the audience and goes on to say:
"It sure as heck hurt my fingers, I assure you!"
- or something to that effect

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Well, we have to reinvent ourselves in our constant quest to attract New Campers, don't we?
smile
What takes place on distant shores may not necessarily wash up on closer ones ...
... so I thought I could do my part with some ethnic titbit inputting ...
You also pitched in fashion wise on how dresses fit in the distant '60ies

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Morning Base Campers
RAMMIE came here. That made this mother hen happy beyond recognition. biggrin
Geocaching turns out to be a great way to meet people. A large group of what we in Denmark call
second(or third)-generation-immigrants played baseball and horsed around in general last night at the school
where I was looking for a cache. Normally, it would be hard to establish any giving contact,
but my weird behavior made one of them call out: "Are you a researcher?" He-he,
so we talked and laughed, and one or two of them got a new idea of what he also could use his smart phone for.

Ghost Plane, you think we are taking an educational turn. So be it for one more day.
We are both fond of cats, which will show in the first of a few more ethnic songs I'll list to color your Saturday beautiful:

An Italian children's song has been Danishified into:
My Cat She Dances Tango

Gitte Hænning debuted as a little girl way back in 1958 recording
I Want to Be Married to Daddy
It was an instant success
As she grew up she just got better and better. Here is her version of
Hank Locklin's
We're Gonna Go Fishing
Soon she went to Germany where she has made herself a brilliant career and has been their darling for decades. Almost 50 years of her:
A Tribute to Gitte 1959-2008 in Danish, English, Swedish and German

I hope your weather is as beautiful as mine, Base Campers.
I plan on going to Skibby, densnaps, to see "Memento Mori" with the spotted
- not owls but - horsies with princes on them, as you mentioned, and just maybe look for a cache ...

Hmmm. Very different songs in the "before times" devilish

Going to be 94F today. Really should be outside planting and watering, but waiting for a FedEx shipment. The site says "out on the truck for delivery"

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Morning Base Campers
Let's start head on with the music:
What a Lady - one heck of a powerhouse!
New York, New York - as only Liza Minelli does it

The weather was perfect for a trip. The rape seed fields are just about to dot the landscape
with that intense yellow, which can make a grey day sunny.

densnaps, Skibby Kirke was closed to the public
- the bandits winning this one as well -
so I didn't get to see those three princes on their Knabstruppers
BUT
I found my geocache #6 right at the church.

Sport, it was so clever. Normally, you look down (I believe, I'm inexperienced) at the ground.
Had it not been for reading the logs with some hints, I hade never spotted this big bird sitting in a tree!
Have you tried such ones?

One important thing happened:
pinky has made a major improvement at our forum allowing us navigate
to and fro previous and next pages with incredible ease.
Thank you so much, mousie ...

I have not seen any trace of GTCola2010, and alephnull is AWOL as well.

Two good reasons to invite anyone who would like to try Base Camping to become our
New Camper .
