----------------------------------------  Good to see WCG back up and running this morning. It appears the “UD maintenance” had more impact than expected. @Keith: That’s an overstatement ... I have no faith at all. @Charlierox: You are sweet! I hope to get back to the trekk before it is over.  However, I would like to see MOT teammates meet the goal. Without Base Camp help, meeting the goal would have been a moot point and I very much appreciate what they did for us and what they continue to do for other teams. But having some of them come back just to meet a goal seems meaningless to me. Heck, if Team 2ch would crunch for us for the first 12 days in January we would have our 50 million points for 2008. What would that prove? It’s just accounting. I would prefer to see us stand or fall on our own efforts. I would much prefer that our members make the goal by running their machine(s) longer, adding additional resources or, better yet, convincing their friends to join us. As we go to holiday parties and other gatherings it is a great time to mention to them what we do here. Ok, enough of my “hot air”.  Well, I’m off to wrap some gifts and box some things for shipping tomorrow. I just “love” to go to our tiny little post office this time of year ... when the line wraps around the outside of the building!!  Happy Holidays!   |

Couldn't agree more The ultimate challenge and achievement is in getting more new folk involved in crunching, be it here or elsewhere, such as my personal favourite, Climate Prediction. Don't forget to point out that it is not only useful but fun too and a great way to make new friends |

Dataman has a mustang. You young punk, Jonathan! You have the unmitigated gall to call a Saleen a mere mustang? You, you with that toy car of yours?  I hope Santa fills your stocking with lumps of coal ... no ... coal is too expensive now. I will have my Great Dane think of something to drop in your stocking. Go Yale!!! By the way, I thought you went to wrap presents. You never know where I may be lurking. Got them wrapped and boxed ... just need to find the body armor for the trip to the PO tomorrow.----------- It appears the forums (or as Sek would say: forua) crashed again today. At least the scheduler appeared to be up all day. Hope the validator is too so it can clear out the 76 wu’s I have in PV jail. It will be interesting to see if end-of-day posting starts on time. Beautiful day here in the Motherload. A clear and sunny 51F (12C). It will be a brisk 28F (-2C) tonight but then when it gets that warm at Dave’s house, he goes outside to get a tan. There's not much to say about me here. Haha.
I'm just a learning computer technician in my last year of high school. I play around with overclocking and building computers in my spare time. Wish I had more money. Currently have 6 cores crunching. Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz (hope to get to 3.6 GHz over winter break) Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 GHz. (too poor to afford a better motherboard so I can overclock it) I own uh... I own.. that corner of MOT's lobby. |

LOL @ huge-displacement / mediocre horsepower mustang clones. Yeah, you heard me. Wanna compare horsepower per litre? I make 240 off a 1.8 and I can go up to 280 with the stock turbo. That makes 133.3 hp/l of displacement. Hope santa brings you a turbo kit or SC kit so you can bring those numbers up! Good to have you back Dataman - we missed you. Good stuff Blizzie with the OCing project. I'm just starting to get involved in that stuff myself. I'm thinking of getting a new graphics card; do you have any suggestions? PS: I'm pretty sure that's the first time a semi-colon has ever been used in a forum post. Merry Christmas to all! I hope Santa brings you all quad cores for Xmas. |
