Just a little "Hello" from Germany!!
----------------------------------------It's been quite a while since I read (or even posted in) the team thread as you can see from my HoF-Banner -- I'm at 6.85 million now . Arethese still being updated, Graham still around? Since then I changed departments and lost a huge amount of crunching power...  But ... we have a new rack up and running and it has two nice virgin IBM servers in it -- waiting to be configured and then I will of course feed them with some WUs. But this will take place in January, I fear. Maybe I should offer to configure the servers to speed up the process...  Also, I will try to get a new workstation with a quad core from my boss, with option to install a second quad later. This should happen early next year as well, if some budget money is left...  Until then, I will drop in here from time to time (but very busy -- starting new hobby "wood turning" after Christmas!!) and see if I can add some slower machines until I get back to full power crunching with the new ones... Glad to hear from you Stefan. Graham just posted a couple of days ago, but we haven't seen much of him for quite a while. With his absence, we have not had all of his nice graphics including the milestone certificates. Our new team captain, keithhenry, keeps us quite up to date with daily statistics and milestone achievements and we do celebrate them. It looks like the team will make our goal of 50 Million points by year end. It is tight, but we should make it. It will be nice to see you crank up a few more machines for next year's goals. I always wanted to get into wood turning, but never got around to it. I did try my had at wppd carving at one time. Did pretty well at it if I do say myself. Unfortunately, I gave it up as I didn't have time for it. Again, glad to hear from you! |

Esteban69 it is good to hear from you . We will be very happy to see you back up to speed crunching---I did work for a retired Admiral that started wood turning.He has become fairly famous in these parts doing things for Colonial Williamsburg---Come back when you can

I always wanted to get into wood turning, but never got around to it. I did try my had at wppd carving at one time. Did pretty well at it if I do say myself. Unfortunately, I gave it up as I didn't have time for it.! Much pleasure hath I found in turning different timbers. Fruit trees and almond are pretty, long grain make for awesome battons and Redgum tell stories. Make time if you can Dave, there be contentment in them timbers. Thanks again for being a great host. I got 3” (7.6 cm) of rain in the last 36 hours. Last night the snow level was down to 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) and it looks like the higher elevations got over 3 ft (1 meter) of snow. I guess winter has arrived on time. Now I have a great excuse not to go out and do the outside chores I should be doing .... it’s too wet!!!
---------------------------------------- The flatlanders have an urban flood advisory this morning so they will have to roll up their pant legs. Nothing serious though ... happens every time it rains hard. Why they put the State Capitol in a flood plain I will never understand. Good to see Esteban69 stop by for a visit. Stop by anytime you can. I think this grey and wet day calls for a big country breakfast. Come on by ... I’m cooking eggs, ham steak, fried potatoes & onions and biscuits. Cheers!   |

Orakk -- I sure wish I could, but I now live in an apartment, and, even if I could find a place to do it, I am afraid that the paralysis in my hands would present a safety risk. |

Caught me broadside with that reply Dave. No idea what it would be like to have a physical reason holding me back on a passion. I'll be thinking about that for a while.

Welcome back Esteban! This summer I have to learn to read German at the college level (so I can translate two pages of Kant's Prolegamena to Any FUture Metaphysics in less than two hours). I may have to ask for some help!
