----------------------------------------I run three computers, 5 ATI cards: > 2600K + 2x 7950 > 3770K + 2x 7950 > Dual Xeon 5520s + 1x 7970 I have been running HCC on GPUs since October 2012, along with various other projects to get my badges. I need to upgrade my Xeons, but that's serious coin .... How much $ can you spare for a good card? E-bay has 7770s available for around $95, and those cards will put up decent numbers. More is better, of course ... A good site for many details is BOINCStats: http://boincstats.com/en/stats/15/team/list/ If you drill down you'll find lots of good information, including your own profile and machine list. I think USMC is just about to break into the top 100, as you mentioned. ~T ![]() |

I have a 7970 in the gamer, but don't want to run it all the time. |

r:
----------------------------------------Accoring to Passmark's Direct Compute table, the 7950 is going to be about 100% better than the 7770: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/directCompute.html According to Newegg prices, the 7950 costs about 250% more than the 7700: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp...der=PRICE&PageSize=20 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp...der=PRICE&PageSize=20 The rest of the math you'll have to do yourself, of course: Is it worth it to me? Since October, I've spent about $2500 on upgrades to maximize my contribution to WCG .... me and cancer go way back, and we have a smackdown underway, and I aim to win. ![]() |

Hmmm...I'm thinking three 7770's for the price of one 7950. Decisions, decisions hehe.

r~
----------------------------------------You mention that you have a 7970 in the gamer, but don't want to run it all the time. I assume you're aware that your gaming rig could be set to run BOINC only when you want it to, yes? Between certain hours, like when you are sleeping or at work/school, it could be putting up large numbers .... Thanks again for your contributions T ![]() |

Thanks again for your contributions T I have run it like that at times...mostly on the weekends when I am home tho. I don't leave anything running when I am away. The other 980X rig is/will be a dedicated cruncher...more performance when the right cards are installed. |

Looks like we passed USAF yesterday, 04-14-13 - OO-RAH!
----------------------------------------(However, they occasionally have Hypernova on their team, and I would expect when he returns for his next 2-week stay, they will pass us once again ....) ![]() |

Hello Marines!!
We do seem to be playing leapfrog. ![]() The important fact here is that both our teams have left the Navy way to our rear. ![]() |
