Well, it looks like the links to the badges are broken ...
----------------------------------------Hello Comrade Terry! Do you miss some one to talk to? It was noisy, and now it's silent - maybe you can talk up wostertag, ski1939 and Matt.Dye - it's been a while since I've seen HutchNYC, who also posted, and wasn't it cowykillr from the Chicago area who joined several months ago who also posted a bit? Well, maybe you want it quiet, maybe you're simply men of few words. Maybe you just don't find you have anything to talk about in this place ... At Team The Edwardians some of the active members have a lovely habit of checking in daily. Sometimes it amounts to a 'morning and that's it, but, still, it's something. Sometimes they get to discuss things ... recently it was reception of digital TV ... I think we had interesting exchanges about drink, food and "blue noses" - hey, you never told me what that meant, did you? Maybe you should invite some females to crunch with you .... of the verbose kind ![]() EDIT: ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 20, 2012 3:26:23 PM] |

Good Morning ski1939 and Team USMC! - and Hello Matt.Dye! Nice meeting you Where do you live? and what does 'yut.' mean? Hello back to you, little mermaid! I'm here, around, and at my desk for a majority of the day. Still reading up on 'treks' and the different terminology here in the WCG. 'Yut' - Is a Marine response for motivation. I'm currently in Los Angeles enjoying a rather sunny winter. How is Denmark? |

Oh, good to see you Matt.Dye.
I must admit, that for reading - and TALKING - our Base Camp thread is in far better shape than this one if its there your read about Treks. Visitors are welcome to post there, of course. But posting is far more needed here after all. ![]() ![]() Do you have other places where you talk? Los Angeles must be heaven these days. In Denmark we have the sun, but as a result of a high pressure - historically high, I'm told - over Russia the Siberian cold has conquered all of Scandinavia. This morning is -12C/10.5F - so you need your Arctic hat and mittens going out ... brrrrrr .... |

Not too many other places that I talk or type. I joined G+ as well as Twitter. Most, if not all, of work related topics are posted on Twitter from clients while reading posts by politicians (our elections approaching) G+ I find amazing and feel it is the best social site that is moderated and kept simple. Also, there are some very amazing people there that I can appreciate. I'm not so much shy as I try to walk (type?) quietly out of respect for others. Additionally, I am selective to those I speak & what I do since I read & take in most information presented to me. It is here that I take my time when learning & understanding operating procedures. The weather is lovely in southern California; however, I'm originally from Pennsylvania where I've learned to appreciate seasonal change. I miss the snow often |

I think that what I mean Matt.Dye was that not many post
in this thread - the USMC team thread. That I suggested it could be shyness was mainly to joke a little about it, but the members here might use other channels for communitcation which you in fact do yourself, but you hardly meet your teammates on Twitter or such - or do you? Maybe places like this Forum is becoming obsolete except for the expert advice on how to run the WUs and the brilliant troubleshooting found here. Also I think that if one member come here repeatedly without finding a new post from anyone else, it's not encouraging. And then this one may not want to post - and the next one .... well, you get the idea. Yes, I would think that the weather in Southern California could feel a tad monotonous when one is from Pennsylvania. I know I have a hard time if the weather has not changed for a week, no matter how good is it. Change is a necessety for me - and I think for many of my compatriots. |

Ski, is our production tapering off? Hard to say really. Many Teams have, due to the WCG changing/scripting nearly all the stats except Results Returned. I think it was a big mistake as it basically upset the balance of quite a few Teams. That is just my opinion; yet the bottom line is, we are all crunching for Cures/Solutions. ![]() Let's go get 'em. ![]() |

@ Johnny Cool, nice to see you on our thread again and thanks for your insight, its apprciated.
----------------------------------------@ Comrade Terry, sorry to take so long replying to your post. As I think you were refering to our USMC team production, I reviewed the USMC team statistics for March (31 days) and April (30 days) and found our USMC team Total Run Time fell about 480 days in April. Although Points Generated and Results Returned also fell (2.2 million points and 2,149 results). I find these last two metrics are difficult to get anxious about when they are aggregated over such disprate science applications and platforms. Some applications seem to award points in unusual/controversial ways (there are many forum threads discussing this issue). In addition, switching from one quick running application to another long running application can significantly influence Results Returned. Finally people come and go, not necessarly joining and leaving the team, but contributing to WCG, BOINC stats shows that team USMC currently has 38 members who returned at least 1 result running the BOINC agent with 17 of them still actively returning results. Just a word abourt our USMC team ranking, Total Run Time rank rose from 175 to 173 in March no change in April, Points Generated rank rose from 164 to 162 in March and rose from 162 to 160 in April, Results Returned rose from 161 to 160 in March and fell from 160 to 161 in April. Again may I say, Many Thanks to each and every USMC team member, old and new, for the time you are with the USMC team while contributing to the WCG. Semper Fi, ski1939 (USMC team captain) |
