I like this Team Thread. It takes me back...
----------------------------------------One of the things I liked best about Leatherneck Magazine was the little Pin-Up of a special Girl from "Back Home". I was only 10 when I got my first issue, but I knew the lonely guys my brother "Hooch-ed" with missed her as much as her sweetheart. (At least we Bachelors got to change Girls each month!) Still my favorite parts were the stories from the past, and the monthly "Booby Traps" section in the back. I read them over and over while we waited for "Our Jimmy" to come back Home. (He Did!) Thank you all for the service you have given. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 31, 2005 4:20:59 AM] |

Hi Billy Bob -
----------------------------------------You have a gift for words old salt and you bring back nostalgic memories for me. Although the pinup has long since gone the way of the BAR and the M-1 rifle, into a well deserved retirement, she was indeed a welcomed distraction from reality that was shared by many, many Marines of my generation. I still get the "Leatherneck - Magazine of the Marines". The latest issue, April 2005, arrived yesterday containing 80 pages with the cover stories listed as, "Taliban Feels Heat in Harsh, Afghan Winter", "WW II: 60 Years Ago Marines Stormed Okinawa", "Field Medical Services School: Learning What It Takes To Earn the Title "Doc"". As you can see, it is still carrying on with highlighting the history and tradition of both today's Marines and those that have gone on before. Once again, I want to thank you Billy Bob, for your continued help and support for the WCG and especially for everything you have done for the USMC team, it is really appreciated. Semper Fi ...
