The lack of information Halfcard has recieved to a perfectly reasonable request doesn’t make me overly confident my computer time is being put to good use. Maybe Halfcard you should install the SETI program. SETI would have probably got back to you by now...ET phone halfcard.

With all the pretty pictures cluttering this thread, it is very hard for casual seekers of knowledge to find any information.
Nevertheless. I have seen a preview of the work being done by the Fiocruz team with the help of IBM, and it will undoubtedly be worth the wait. It is easy to see why this stage of the project takes so long. This is no toy database, it is a fully-fledged ontology tool. I understand they are very close to launching it, now. Be warned, though: it is going to be totally opaque to anyone outside the very narrow field. Personally, I understood maybe one word in three. :-D |

The website that will provide the data access is nearing completion and a paper has been submitted, meaning it requires review prior to publication. Probably that's what the waiting is for which I'm 100% sure will be before ET calls halfcard back.

Maybe Halfcard you should install the SETI program. SETI would have probably got back to you by now...ET phone halfcard. For me it is not about who has a faster telephone system, it is about what I can do to help the people around me. I would love to have a large rack with 1,000 Quad computers so that I could work on every project. I believe that all the scientists understand that we want feedback so that we can be encouraged to continue to help. It is ridiculous to suggest that the scientists MUST respond in some arbitrary time frame that has no basis in logic or fact. The request for information is reasonable, it is the time frame that is not reasonable. Let them do their job and be patient with them. |

if wcg scientists, or techs, made a big mistake, either in theory or programming, i would just come out and say so. no one here is going to be upset about it. we have all seen failure before.
as far as scientist feedback, i would give them 30 days maximum between checking in to this forum. if they have been busy correcting or re-doing the project, i have no problem with that either. just say so. if a complex paper comes out, it should be explained in simple terms. |

I understand that you may be disappointed. if a complex paper comes out, it should be explained in simple terms. Their report depends on the reader and since they are primarily responsible for reporting to the scientific community, the complexity of their report may only be fully understandable by a scientist. At the same time, the more people that understand their research, the more will be interested in the results. |

halfcard, nobody made a mistake. This just takes time.
World Community Grid has no scientists. Project scientists are affiliated to their respective institutions - in this case, Fiocruz. They are doing an excellent job. World Community Grid stay in constant contact with the scientists, so that you don't have to. You don't have to worry about progress, either. One day, it will be done, and you can read the announcement. |
