Well, finally, the bag was left behind by the cat and the last chapter in the Q2-09 Newsletter provides information and link to the GC project produced online database is here. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/newsletter/09Q2/viewProjects.do So it may have taken nearly two years but I think it's going to be worth the wait, especially if they decide to start crunching more data later.... guessing based on the second to last paragraph. The idea is that, in future stages of the project, users can have at their disposal more and more data, reaching even greater reliability of the information and options for more complex searches. |

A project like the periodic SIMAP is ever augmenting their database by having monthly data crunch runs, their update batches last a few days to a week. That idea was never excluded when GC1 started.

Hi all
----------------------------------------I personally would like if genome comparison project came back with a new phase, with focus on a subsequent analysis for example. Reading the message posted at website of Brazilian FIOCRUZ Institute, I am concerned that probably it will not happen (maybe I'm wrong). There are a lot of things that affect the human health and that could be addressed with more deep and serious genoma comparison researches, many genetic diseases like auto-imunes and other hereditaries diseases could be more clarified if new researches in Genoma continue more deeply, aside other benefits for medical and biological sciences. I hope that other Instituitions that focus on genoma researches, could take some advantage of the public database provided by FIOCRUZ, and use better the results from this project to leverage the knowledge in this science field, and in the best case start maybe a new Genoma project phase here in WCG. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Reading the message posted at website of Brazilian FIOCRUZ Institute, I am concerned that probably it will not happen (maybe I'm wrong). I fear you may be right and GC would have some serious work to do to catch up with SIMAP, it may only run for a few days but it does crunch a lot of data. Hopefully though it will increase understanding of what is possible and maybe they could get some collaborative works running. is the project link in the news article a mistake? perhaps this one is it: http://157.86.176.108/ProteinWorldDB/index.php It is, it should be www.proteinworlddb.org not http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/newsletter/09Q2/www.proteinworlddb.org which redirects to http://157.86.176.108/ProteinWorldDB/index.php. Sekerob do you know the right people to contact on this? [Edit 1 times, last edit by MONK_DUCK at Jun 11, 2009 4:35:14 PM] |

No one has to lest it get's hidden in a thread like this, so it was reported after the http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost?post=233578 post edit.
----------------------------------------![]() SIMAP... whatever they do, never went out to find their database... maybe halfcard wants to open a thread there ![]()

Any chance a second phase will start? I know who is ever going to look here to answer!

hi judson Somerville MD,
I have not heard of any interest in a second phase. We are looking into a different project that Fiocruz is interested in, but there is nothing definite to report. Lawrence |

Discused with all projects results.
Lack of significant intelligent reports from most projects indicates that projects were started without a clear path as to what is to be accomplished, what accomplishment will look like, report time frames, where the public results will be presented. I can go on but it appears there are money consumption mechanics on the loose. A reason we no longer compute here. |
