smile Re: Badges... Who's got badges

During my jogging to Sapphire I just saw something glittering on the roadside and it was a beautiful gemstone, an Emerald. So I picked it. wink

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

Just got my Ruby, and Sekerob's chart says I've got until April to get to my Emerald.
4 cores should do it with time to spare, I just hope I don't end up in no man's land, again.

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

themerill check your stats. See how many CPU days you produce per day or week in average. Then you can compute how long you need to crunch to generate 180 days of CPU time. This is what you need to reach Emerald.

Don't you mean Ruby? Emerald = one year.

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

Emerald - Ruby (already have) = 180 cpu days to go divided by 4 cores on 24/7 in a perfect world = 45 calender days

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

TXVB you are right that to get an Emerald you need a "total" of one year of CPU time if you start fom scratch. But if you have reached Ruby then you have already accomplished 180 days or half the time you need. So to get to the 1 year target you need to add another 180 days or maybe 185 if one year is 365 days.
For Sapphire you need 2 years CPU time if you start from scratch. But if you are already say at Emerald then you will need just 1 year of CPU time in addition to what you have accomplished.

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

I didn't mean for this to turn into a big thing. My concern isn't if 4 cores can get it done before the chart says. I did that math already.
I should only get caught in no mans land if the chart is off by slightly over a month...

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

It is not absolutely correct... thought we had 650 batches, but llhung posted few hours ago it's 630. Means we got 630 - 522 (presently underway) = 108 * 35 CPU years per batch to crunch or ~ 3,800 CPU years.

cool

But, at a rounded 50 years daily the grid does, that's 75 days... right on or after Q1-10 finish... just what the gantt already indicated

biggrin

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

Well this was a nice surprise. Life has been interfering with my goofing off time here recently so I pretty much set up a couple of my projects to crank away until I could stop back in & check on them. I just happened to stop by this afternoon & discovered that my Ruby Rice badge had turned to Emerald with this morning's update cool .

Sadly I can't foresee the green turning to blue before things wrap up for Rice, but I'm glad that I was able to contribute this much to this worthy project. Ah well, back to crunching trenches....
