Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

Hey all, I'm thinking about moving my laptop over to QMC just to try out another project. The quad stays with WCG as do my roommates' computers. And after all, our BOINC stats need some boosting!

That would be great Jonathan. I would suggest, however, that you also run another project on it too. QMC sometimes has no work to send or a server is down. It is always good to run two (or more) on each machine. That way you don't loose any time. QMC has been very stable and the credits are good.

I had no idea I could do that. Maybe I'll keep the laptop on 50 50 WCG and QMC.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

Speaking of the quad, it's supposed to be here late Tuesday (UPS always hits us near the end of the day). Anyone got any pointers on setting VISTA so it doesn't "idiot-light" message me every keystroke? I don't want to set it wide open but would like to run the apps I load on it without being pestered. Perhaps I should get that Dummies book I saw the other day......

Feel free to run your quad wide open. Mine is, that plus a .5 ghz per core overclock. Keep the heat under 60 and you're good to go!

Yes you can. Click on "tools" in the advanced view of BOINC Manager and then on "Attach to Project". It will take you through the set up process. 50/50 would be great as WCG and POEM never run out of work (so far biggrin ).

EDIT: One other thing. When it asks if you are an existing user, it means are you already signed up with that project not a user of BOINC. It will take care of registering with the project, setting pref's and joining a team (hopefully MOT biggrin biggrin biggrin )

I ordered this KVM switch.

Three new quads -- about 24K points/day added to daily totals for team ya think?

Cool!

This is great ... some of the MOTley Crew are expanding their project crunchin' horizons and other heavy hitters are pickin up larger bats. No doubt we will blow the doors off last year's annual WCG crunchin' records.

Keith is going to have to start tracking BOINC Credits at the international team level. laughing biggrin laughing But we will not bug him about that until after the WCG "dog point" conversion to BOINC credits.
