Re: New Beta badges awarded

Nobody can hoover, nasher. The policy since the last 2 tests is 1 result in progress per core. You/the client has to complete and report a Beta result to get a new one, if there are still any left. At any rate, there were 10,634 result validated for the HPF2 test which was a very rich distribution, with very low fail rate.

edit: spellcheck

Re: New Beta badges awarded

oh well there goes that idea.. i have been wondering since i havent managed to get a beta work unit in the last few sets if there is something wrong on my end or if a box is unchecked when it looks checked or something... if i had gotten 1 i wouldnt be worried but this another beta run and none of my computers (mind you its only 3 and only 1 is a dual core) have gotten beta's at all

oh well hope i have more luck soon and hopefully a HUGE beta run will happen and i can approach a beta badge sometime

Re: New Beta badges awarded

Well, obviously I don't know when it'll be, although if the CEP scientists are indicating that phase 2 will be starting in the 'not too distant future', then there's bound to be a Beta run (or two) in the near future...

Here's hoping I get enough hrs to finally get my Bronze Beta Badge.

Re: New Beta badges awarded

After 17 months and 32 years worth crunching, I finally just reached the 14 days for the Beta Bronze badge. This was the day's surprise.
In fact I've given up long ago looking for the beta's and just left them to come at random and be crunched as a normal WU queuing like any other one.

Re: New Beta badges awarded

im up to 8 days 19 hours and havent recieved a beta job in since last year ...

ok now i am mad... SERIOUSLY MAD

i came home saw i had a beta job on one of my computers.. and it was 1 of a quarm of 3 with the other 2 reported and complete..ran to that computer found the work unit was complete... did a manual send of the result... figuring ok i managed to get one and almost 2 hours closer... it looked like it sent back no problem.. i walked back to this system refreshed my information and see that the job i had is now listed as SERVER ABORTED and i get ZERO credit for it.

the reason i am mad is i spent the time to crunch it and it was a complete work unit with no error and it was sent back but i receive no credit cause the 2 required of the 3 jobs were already complete.

this is the first beta i have received in probably 5 months and i crunched it and got the rug pulled out from under me.

my the list i had the work unit for 4 hours 16 min

Result Name App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due /
Return Time CPU Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit
BETA_ ts05_ a002_ pr91a0_ 1-- 617 Server Aborted 5/17/10 18:53:31 5/17/10 23:09:58 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 <-- ME
BETA_ ts05_ a002_ pr91a0_ 0-- 617 Valid 5/17/10 18:53:24 5/17/10 20:14:59 1.20 28.0 / 28.0
BETA_ ts05_ a002_ pr91a0_ 2-- 617 Valid 5/17/10 18:53:23 5/17/10 20:16:58 1.34 38.9 / 28.0

again it was a complete work unit and the first connect for that machine since it received the work unit... and i was sending it back complete. why did it get aborted by the server

Re: New Beta badges awarded

nasher,

The server only aborts redundant unstarted tasks and bad ones if the techs know about that, even when started. Can only think you looked in exitement on the wrong line and saw a ready to report, your "did a manual send of the result" suggests that as when permanently connected, the result files themselves are already uploaded. They go standard immediately upon task completion unless the connection is not active.

The place to find your evidence is the stdoutdae.txt file that logs all activity. The file is located in the BOINC_data_dir, location printed in the BOINC message log near start up. It shows at minimum a job start and end. If you run the BOINCTasks utility, it logs the completed/aborted jobs and how much CPU time they used.

Do not worry Randzo, your time will come. Just forget about it and crunch. Eventually one day you will wake up with a nice surprise. wink
