1) 3.4GHz P4 with HT (not overclocked), 1.5GB RAM, Windows XP Home 2) Q6700 (not overclocked), 3GB RAM, Vista Ultimate 32 bit 3) QX6700 @ 3.6GHz (overclocked), 4GB RAM, XP Pro 32 bit 4) Q6700 @ 3.65GHz (overclocked), 8GB RAM, Vista Ultimate 64 bit I'm feeling just a little envious right now. Maybe the !#@$ badges should just be done away with entirely! I was crunching before badges and I'll be crunching still if they do away with them, I crunch for personal reasons not for badges. That said however, they are nice little extras, and it's nice to collect a set. Visible targets to aim for will encourage some folks so isn't a bad thing, and doesn't cost anything to do. I don't have the beta badge and I can live with that. I'd like a beta badge, and if I switched from running linux to xp or vista I could have picked up a decent haul of beta units by now from the CEP project. As it is I only got 7 beta units for CEP on linux and every one errored out so I got no credit. No matter, the project will no doubt learn as much from examining the failures as the sucesses so we will get better projects in the long run. |

You know how difficult it is to get enough for a Bronze badge (14 days of runtime). And a Gold one is 90 days. More than 6 times more. Hi All This is my first time on the Beta forum... I selected the box a couple of months ago, I have 3 Windows PCs running this pretty much full time and I haven't had one Beta WU yet. I know it's pretty much luck if you're connecting to download a lot more work when the WUs are sent out, but I had hoped I might get off the ground on the latest CEP batch. Still, I'm happy to trundle along. My second target is to get my bronze badge... my first is to get my very first Beta WU. |

Whoa Nelly, deeply envious of you, eso. 'Just' have 27 days on the MG page. 18 more to silver needed... looking at the program, I'd say 2011

Considering there seems to be a contingency of individuals who want to lower the badges I propose the following.
Each time you return your first WU for any project you get a blacked out place holder for the pending badge. Should the project end and you not get the anticipated badge; then the blacked out space is removed. So now everyone who wants to have something under their name can have something even if no one knows what the blacked out section might be for until it is replaced by the correct badge! Wadaya say? |

At times I've thought of a badge without the rim colors as in the beginning for anyone with a day... it's like first the certificate for participating and the metals for milestones.

I like that idea, it shows here that you're helping on those projects, even if you haven't had the time in to get a metallic badge. :) I also like the idea I saw tossed around for Diamond badges for a year of crunching or something like that. ![]() |
