Re: Lots of Inconclusive

Got 29 WU's that was finish with inconclusive status (considering my total of 378 HFCC's WU's crunched until now).

The good new is that all became valid, few hours after my returned results. That's right for me. coffee

Re: Lots of Inconclusive

It looks like all my inconclusives also turned valid which is a good thing. It still seems strange that for two days I got so many inconclusives and today I have none. I am almost exclusively doing HFCC since CEP has stopped again. 158 Valid today so far and no inconclusive yet.

Re: Lots of Inconclusive

Wonder if your machine was having Sunday dances with the servers while the load balancer was acting up? Incomplete file transfers and all, rather far fetched, but who knows does this fall in the reliability ratings and motivates folk not to hit the update button every 5 minutes when the BOINC client time counter indicated a 30 minute deferral wink

Re: Lots of Inconclusive

I do not hit the update button that often smile I do go around sometimes, if I am home at 6pm CDT and update my machines so I can get as much counted in the statistics.

Why would incomplete transfers show up as inconclusive? I would think this would cause more serious problems.

Re: Lots of Inconclusive

Pure guess on my part. The files will be okay 99.999999% sure, I'm just thinking network stability with interrupted up/downloads is considered a criterion to better get a second opinion, which is what inconclusive in effect means. Not your fault, but giving the scientists that 0.000001% extra is important for the reliability of the results.

Anyway, I've had my hands off, and in fact suspended networking collectively on Sunday using BOINCview until knreed gave the all clear. Incurred only the normal random checks. Saw 2 on my RS pages in past 3 days.

Re: Lots of Inconclusive

I don't understand any of that, but I do think something happened. Production was oddly flat for two weeks, then suddenly it spiked yesterday. I noticed this in my team stats, but the global stats show the same pattern.

Kevin's explanation doesn't quite satisfy me.

Re: Lots of Inconclusive

It's off topic, but project launches and reloads I'm pretty sure has folks fill up the buffers with the new stuff and then suspend tasks that are quorum dependent. There was a rather steap rise of mean run time from 5.18 hours per task to now 6.89 for today, so the quorum dependent projects are surely impacted and as I asked off-line, springbreak somewhere?

PS, you did not move out of our way, so sorry for the track-marks ;-)

Re: Lots of Inconclusive

I just got a whole raft of inconclusives that were resent to another machine.

It appears that all HFCC results reported by this one machine today were flagged.

I'm assuming the backend didn't like something that was reported about these.
