Made Emerald. Sapphire is going to be close, depending on how long the project lasts.

Got my first sapphire, even returned 10 IADS WUs I didn't need. Now on to try and get all the golds and rubys up to at least emerald.

Way to go on the Saphires, emerald and gold. 5 calender days till emerald. One of my computers finally died. It was old and dropping it a few times on its head did not help. looking for i7 seems Sager is best deal but still doing my research.
PS I do not work for, own stock or receive kick backs from Sager though if they wish to support me please contact me! LoL |

If you are the least bit handy you can build your own and save lots of money. If you are getting it as a crunching machine only things have become a little confused in the i7 world with the new 870 and 860 being added to the mix. I have read from a number of reliable sources that the i7 860 is as good as an i7 920, costs a little less and uses less power (interpret that as currently the 860 is the best buy). You might wait a little because proces should come down as the i7 860 was just recently released. Of course if you get the i7 920 you will have the opportunity to upgrade the processor next year to a six core (12 threads) but that will likely be a pretty expensive processor. One last thought ... when you build your own it is typically easier to overclock which will boost your crunching substantially. Final thought ... even though the individual science app on WCG are 32 bit there are some (HCC, HFCC, HCMD) that do process faster on 64 bit OS.

Steve,
Thanks for your insights. I will look into what you recomend. Part of the issue is I need a notebook computer for travel/portability. As per 32/64 bit I have noticed that my point count is much higher on HCC,HFCC and HCMD on my 64 bit machines then 32 bit ones. |

Got Ruby today, so we'll see if I can crunch and cache enough units to get me to Emerald......

Because of the extra batch of DDDT-1 of last weekend I filled most of my buffers with DDDT, so I got some delay for IADS, but I'm getting close to Ruby and still try to get Emerald. Sapphire is far out of range for me.
----------------------------------------In about 4 days all cache for DDDT-1 will be finished and then running full speed IADS again, I hope ![]()
