The final _number is a replication identifier, normally 1 or 0 which are matched during validation. Higher numbers may be generated where work is abandoned, late or inconclusive so that the validator verifies against a quorum of 2.

Each _number_number inserted before the replication number is the start and end position number within the original unit, so
