Re: News from the Crunching Field

As this project Phase II project does crunch toward a finish it looks like I will probably end up with ~26 years contributed personally and my small "He's My Son" team ~83 years contributed.

While these contributions "feel" small, it does show the power of the grid to combine all of the contributions to move the research forward.

I contributed to HCMD Phase I and had only just briefly read about the then still pending HCMD Phase II when Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy forcibly entered our lives with the diagnosis of my son Eric.

While it is not clear how this research will play out, there is NO doubt that any and all Muscular Dystrophy research is desperately needed!

With that in mind, I would like to personally thank everybody who has contributed to this project...research team, crunchers, techs, advisors...for every bit of you have put forth towards ending this horrific disease.

Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: News from the Crunching Field

Jim, thanks for explaining your view of the remaining batches.
My most recent downloads are now:
    parents for 2264, 2265;
    children for 2201 to 2240;
    grandchildren for 2201 to 2234.
Doug, all HCMD crunchers must be hoping that this WCG effort contributes to some medical advances before too long. Best wishes to Eric.

Re: News from the Crunching Field

Ha, just downloaded the first two great-grandchildren WUs that I've ever seen. Both are on a 4-day report deadline and immediately ran with high priority.

I haven't seen a parent WU since yesterday afternoon (batch 2267), the rest have all been children.

Re: News from the Crunching Field

I was wondering why I had a number of WUs with a 4 day deadline. Already done and reported.

Yep, perfectly in line with the Deadlines FAQ

Re: News from the Crunching Field

All these relations....
maybe I'll have my wife read this thread and explain it to me.
Anyway with 56 days left and 20 cores dedicated,
well over the 1 year 150 days I need for 5 years, (closer to 3).
So it was fun,
cure it or send number 3 and I'm in!
(This will only be my 3rd project to 5 years,
my goal is ALL Projects from now on to make 5 (for now til the 10 cores CPU come out!)
HCMD will always be a priority... it's so hard with so many good choices.

Re: News from the Crunching Field

After downloading only children and grandchildren WUs for the past 3 days, I've now downloaded a couple more parent WUs for batch 2268 (which I last saw on 31 Dec). After the recent speedup in the rate at which they were appearing, perhaps this means we're back to just over 4 parent batches per day as a long-term average.

Yup, 2269 for me, I expect that to jump at least two positions before the day is up.
