SekeRob, I don't know if you still want weekly (Friday) reports on recent downloads to help keep your charts updated, but if so here's mine.
children for 2219 to 2283; grandchildren for 2269 to 2271. |

Nothing higher than Tony from my side.
----------------------------------------@anhhai In my post on Dec 31 I have clearly shown how I was playing this big guess game intended mainly for anxious badge hunters: So, the rough estimate of 5 batches per day is still conservative (from a badge hunting viewpoint ![]() - 41 days until receiving parents for batch 2467 - 46 days until receiving children for batch 2467 - 47 days until receiving grand-children for batch 2467 - and probably 56 days for clearing everything. The first three numbers were supposed to be a minimum number of days before seeing the first WUs for batch 2467 (the last one). They were strictly based on a progress of 5 batch numbers per day and when reading that again I realize that 46 and 47 would be probably 42 since there will be nothing new to distribute but child and grandchild WUs once the last parents will have been sent. So the big number (56 then, 47 today) is of course for having distributed all new WUs, children and grandchildren included. Then we should not see anything else than repair jobs. And don't forget that estimates for parents depend completely on decisions made by the techs: if (for whatever reason) they would prefer to get rid of parents faster they only need to distribute them all during as many days as necessary and then we would have to deal only with child and grandchild WUs. But the global duration would be more or less the same. |

Actually, you hit on a really valid point. How the techs decide to distribute the last parents will have a huge impact on the date the last results are sent (not the total amount of work). If they release all the parents early, that gives time for results to come in and new work units to be generated. If they continue with the same pattern we can expect several days with no results available between batches of children/grandchildren/etc. followed up by repair units.

It sent out up to 2286 before returning to child units.

And don't forget that estimates for parents depend completely on decisions made by the techs: if (for whatever reason) they would prefer to get rid of parents faster they only need to distribute them all during as many days as necessary and then we would have to deal only with child and grandchild WUs. However, I see evidence of a prioritisation scheme currently in place that holds back parent batches in favour of releasing child/grandchild batches if they exist. For example, the WU Status for a recent 2284 parent says "Created: 01/03/2012 17:19:11" (that's 3 Jan) and it was queued for over 3 days before I downloaded it, whereas a 2274 child received before it says "Created: 01/06/2012 17:17:50" (6 Jan) and was downloaded less than 4 hours later. A good reason for this might be to spread out the load on the child/grandchild generating process, and to shorten the time it takes to complete batches in their entirety. If such reasons remain valid, then we ought to see the same interleaving of parents and children/grandchildren to the end.But the global duration would be more or less the same. |

From my reading, seeds can be generated quasi real time and is not depending on parent batch completion... in short, when quorum of a parent is complete, a child could be created shortly after, which is why we see the constant back and forth. Mind you, for efficiency this process is likely running on a schedule, possibly with a priority assignment in the feeder, so when there are seed batches, they'll go ahead of parents. This promotes the clearing of a whole batch number, so it can be migrated to the master database and uploaded to Paris. Remember, batches kept live [that what shows on the Result Status pages] has a performance impact on the scheduler, so the driving strategy is probably dictated by that. The Friday reporting allows to guesstimate the range that is live and enter this into the pot for computing progress and days left [for any non-repair tasks].
46 days left and holding at 30 [or skipping forward to 30 if techs give the formal alert]... we make it up as we go :D --//-- |

even if we don't know how long till 30 days or end it is nice to have Sekerobs chart to give us an idea... also with the listing of parents of 2286 out of 2467 or 181 batches of parents left... so we are getting closer even if it is at an undetermined time till end...
----------------------------------------yes we will see parents / children / grandchildren / great-great-grandchildren till the end. yes there can be tons of children/grandchildren.... even after all the parents are done knowing how many parents are left gives me... as a person trying to get the final badge i want for this project i am using this for a panic baseline... as far as my guess goes from the past i will have enough time to badge up prior to the last parent being released unless they change the rate that they are issuing them... the 30 day mark is also VERY nice cause that gives us all another marker to know if we can make a next badge or not. ![]() |

I appreciate all the discussion about the end date. I'm on a sapphire run and I estimate I'll need 35-40 calendar days. So, I've been feeling a little nervous seeing the remaining time figures fluctuate as I'd hate to end the project just short of a sapphire.
