Nice to know it's appriciated.
----------------------------------------![]() In theory I could run my script for every team, or possibly even run it fo rthe whole of WCG, but I'm not sure if WCG would be too happy with me then, as running my script for DPC alone already takes like 10 minutes, as it has to request an xml page for every member of the team (>1000 for DPC) It would be nice if I could do one request that would return one (potentially huge) xml that would include the infor for all members of a team, but since that would require a change to the website only very few people would use, or even notice, I doubt that will ever happen :) Oh well, I guess I'll stick to running my script once a month or so and posting the results in the stats threads on our forum ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 20, 2009 6:10:28 PM] |

Nice to know it's appriciated. What a terrific chart. Maybe WCG would let it be run against the entire database once a month? |

Some suggestions about new badges and times for them are made in this thread, so I use it for simple solving of the problem with the outgoing colors:
----------------------------------------How would it be, if every badgecolor can get two additional stars in the corners like the yoyo-Badges? For instance it could be as following: 14 days - Bronze 45 days - Bronze with 1 star 90 days - Bronze with 2 stars 180 days - Silver 1 year - Silver with 1 star 2 years - Silver with 2 stars 4 years - Gold 8 years - Gold with 1 star 16 years - Gold with 2 stars 32 years - Ruby 64 years - Ruby with 1 star 128 years - Ruby with 2 stars 256 years - Emerald 512 years - Emerald with 1 star 1024 years - Emerald with 2 stars 2048 years - Sapphire 4096 years - Sapphire with 1 star 8192 years - Sapphire with 2 stars 10000 years - Black diamond I think, that should be enough for some years with many many new multicore-CPUs. Maybe that sometime there is a need for other badges for GPU-Computing, but that's an other problem ;) The only things needed are a resizing of some existing badges and a background-fitting star.

Time and again a new badge plan is presented and the current badge hurdles shifted up. Gold is gold and will remain to be 90 days e.g i.e. no resizing as there are and will always be small crunchers, who's golds will not be taken away, a differentiation of old and new gold very improbable. If new higher targets are set, and some are already programmed, they will have new metal or mineral representation and beyond... well there will be certificates (see post by knreed).

I absolutely do agree with Sekerob. There must be no change for the existing badge system. It is fine up to Sapphire 2 years. Nobody must be downgraded with a new system. Some have got their silver or gold badges after many years and we must respect that.
----------------------------------------Big crunchers do only 50% of the job. Smaller crunchers make up for the other 50% so they are invaluable to WCG. We have to add simply on top of this scale. Let's say: White diamond for 5 years, Black diamond for 10 years, White pearl for 25 years, Black pearl for 50 years. and ........... ![]() ![]() Anyway I do not really care, I leave it to WCG but make the badges nice and most of all "desirable". ![]() |

So how can you differentiate from White-5 Years from Silver-45 days, White-25 years, Black-10 years, Black-50 years, etc. ???.
Things are becoming too complicated. Leave the badges alone, and add numbers of years for the super-crunchers. |

Come on. You see no difference between a pearl and a diamond
----------------------------------------![]() Ok then. Please send me a white pearl and I will send you a white diamond ![]() But yes you are right. I completely forgot that the badge is only colour discriminated and there is no graphical representation of ruby, emerald, sapphire. Maybe we should in the new badges make them as a gemstone with the project symbol included inside. Colour would not be a problem then. Very nice graphical things could be done. ![]() |
