Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

If someone with a Windows machines wants to chip in you'll need the "weak account key" of the member you are hoping to help. And then with that information here is a copy/paste from OldChap (thanks man)

Try this:

Windows Vista/7
Click Start
Type cmd and press Enter/Return
Type cd C:\program files\boinc\ and press Enter/Return or where you have your Boinc folder
Type boinccmd --project www.worldcommunitygrid.org detach and press Enter/Return
Type boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org Enter weak key here and press Enter/Return

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

@ olivier3191

Domdom95 mentioned how to find/provide us with your "Weak account key". It basically is a way we can crunch WU under your account name without you giving us ID or password. Please post us that when you have it and various members will chip in.

WCG updates user stats 2x a day. Please post after each update so we know how much you have vs how much you still need.
1) completed run time for FA@H years:days
2) how many pages of FA@H "In progress"
3) how many pages of FA@H "pending validation"
#2 and #3 help people estimate how much will be added to #1
This information is critical for some people and happy people will continue to help ;)

Looking forward to starting!

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

With Boinc running....

Windows 8/8.1
Move the cursor to the very bottom left corner and click the block that appears in order to go to the Start Screen

Type cmd and press Enter/Return
Type cd C:\program files\boinc\ and press Enter/Return or where you have your Boinc folder
Type boinccmd --project www.worldcommunitygrid.org detach and press Enter/Return
Type boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org Enter weak key here and press Enter/Return

I think this will do it

Here is my current situation :

1) completed run time for FA@H years:days => 17:356

2) how many pages of FA@H "In progress" => 71 pages

3) how many pages of FA@H "pending validation" => 4 pages

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

olivier3191 Be warned .... 2 years is a big ask to complete in 2 days or even 3-4 days because in order to have the work loaded on the machine ready to complete helpers will have to try to defeat the 35 wu's per thread limit imposed by WCG.

I think it is unrealistic to ask your helpers to leave machines running for 3 weeks in the hope of getting a few odd resends.

The question then is can we get enough people helping to cache 2 years of work or very close to it? The sooner folks get started the better

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

I see how I can attach an account to my machine as your instructions above. When done, what do I do to detach the account (WAK)?

Maybe just the same commands with my own WAK?

Maybe it is not worth it for me to do this since I can only contribute about 4 days per day.

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

Hi OldChap.

I agree with you, 2 years in 3 or 4 days in not realistic. However according to what I read in another discussion (see quote below), I believe that some tasks will still be sent during 2 or 3 additional weeks.

That's why I hope that if I'm lucky (3 weeks), I have a chance to reach the 20-year target with a little additional help (I increased recently my hardware, and currently my "total run time" is 35 days / day).

But if my understanding of what Uplinger wrote is wrong, don't hesitate to tell me (anyway, fight against AIDS is more important than my badges smile ).

As said Uplinger in this discussion :
Please remember that after the last of the new batches get sent, resends will be continually sent for the next 2-3 weeks after.

So if it's 3 weeks, maybe I still have a chance to reach 20 years... praying

EDIT: After having just posted this message, I realize that I thought that during the next 2 or 3 weeks we would have as many tasks available each day as during the past days. But maybe I'm wrong, and maybe we'll have only a few FAAH tasks during these 2 or 3 additional weeks ? If yes, please confirm. In this case I understand that reaching 20-year is not realistic for me, and that potential helpers should help other crunchers than me. smile

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

olivier3191,
The next 2 or 3 weeks, there will only be limited work available. Basically only repair jobs

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

Ok thanks for this confirmation anhhai.

=> Thanks everybody for your help and your explanations. As the 20-year badge is unreachable for me, please don't use my weak account key. I'm going back to the other projects, and I will abandon my current FAAH tasks, in order to let them for the crunchers whose target is still reachable.

Good luck ! smile
