Re: Members Current Ranking

I was well within my highway speed of 10-12 Ranks Per Day at the beginning until these last three days were I felt a very strong braking effect. Something must have happened with WCG as my daily points remained stable.
I experienced the same thing. Ever since I got into the low 500s, it has been very slow going.

Re: Members Current Ranking

Just remember that some of the top contributors here have many, many systems.
On a good day I might have 40 cores chipping in for me. Although you get about 3 times my points, with top end systems, some contributors have hundreds or thousands of cores – it wont matter much weather you can squeeze out another 0.1GHz or not!

I know my limits, and there is a border after which is the world of the big guns, datacenters, large company or institutions networks etc..

My target which is within my reach (albeit with some added effort) is to get to a stable 500'000 PPD. I am now oscillating around the 30th daily position with 350'000 PPD. In the coming days I will boost to 400'000 PPD. Once the maximum limit is reached I should be around 20th overall in daily stats. That would be my best possible daily position except some peak variations.
In terms of global ranking it is a different story. The target is to be in the 100 club, but this may take a lot of time.
I have to be realistic, new partners and new big guns can appear overnight (which would be a plus for WCG smile )and ruin my nice plan crying .

Re: Members Current Ranking

Thank you Skgiven, yes that is what I am doing, going after HFCC and DDDT2 but as I mentioned before I have had only one DDDT2 WU so far.

I did find the chart http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q210/Sekerob/WCGActiveProjectsGantt.png
that helped me decide what to do.

And I only have 3 machines, my wife's laptop plus my desktop and laptop so I know I will eventually stop going up in the rankings

Re: Members Current Ranking

Funny you should mention that Gil 2
(going up in the rankings)
I checked how many points I made today
roughly 39,000. That's a fair average.
I then checked what position that put me in
for daily production (682).
I am currently ranked 2372. My rough theory
is that I should progress til I am 682 in the rankings.
Now we all know that there are many variables.
2 months ago, I didn't produce nearly as much.
Changing the Q6600 to 64 bit Windows,
Changing the I7 920 at 2.66 GHZ to 3.33 GHZ etc.
Also OTHER people will be upgrading/adding machines.
As well as new people coming, old people going...
However I am ecstatic that I can be under 1000.
Maybe this year, maybe not...
Saw a dual socket xeon workstation 2.33 GHZ for 1400 or so...
but the RAM was 667 mhz, what to do... I'll go resurrect my
'reasonable server ideas' thread, well reread it first anyway.
