Re: DDDT2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

Let me brag in advance: By current extrapolations got enough work on the crawler to make it to 15.7 days on first pass... all I want is just that square be filled in the left margin.

That out of the way, there are seemingly 18 targets for:

A 36,000 WUs for 125 CPU years+ (probably conservative taking a mean run time of 30 hours, when the estim mean is 65)
B 72,000 WUs 7.5 hours estim mean each or 62 CPU years+
C 22,000,000 WUs 2.5 hours estim mean each about 6,200 CPU years.

source: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,28528

That's 22.1 million tasks for 6,500 CPU years. By comparison, RICE is going to close on under 30,000,000 results and 25,000 CPU years.

So let's not panic... there's lots of time before we get through this, moderated by that WCG X projects share target ceiling of ~14.2% at 7 active projects, ~16.7% at 6 active projects and CEP2 and FLU2 still coming in the next 2 months... spread your wings for choices have to be made if you're into clubbing. With this think the project will run 6 months or longer.

Re: DDDT2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

Ended up with 3 DDDT II WU's with estimate times to complete of 45-49 hours. One should not give up on getting one of the first thousand as I only recieved my early this am.

I believe that there was an initial 1000 sent out, followed by another wave of 5000. I'm presuming that once these start feeding back in and the techs are comfortable that 'all is well', then the rest will be released. As to whether these will then be released in waves, time will tell....

Re: DDDT2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

They're slowly being fed into the system. Wonder who will be able to report a first quorum. Someone said "normally to have bronze tomorrow" as in within 24 hours... well the normal here is going to be a little longer :D Might turn out with his power he'd not even get to see bronze and the silver arriving in one swag, when us mortals turn in the first results. Of course that's predicated on uplinger switching on the validator biggrin

Re: DDDT2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

gb008761,

There should be another 5000 work units coming in the next few weeks. We first have to process the preruns. We will be having a short beta before each target on the type A work units for them to make sure nothing goes wrong on the bulk for each target. When I say short, I mean 25 work units and that is it.

Thanks Uplinger for that info. I bet those 25 Beta WU's you've got planned, will be snapped up in record speed - what with DDDT2 being an "intermittent" project biggrin

Re: DDDT2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

Extrapolating... always fun smile

I can process the "C" units. Let's say there are 6200 cpu years in my reach. Then let's assume the current WCG years/day is 300 years. Let's also assume that the WCG processing power is evenly split over the 7 active projects. That means (6200*7)/300= 144 calender days worth of time in which I ideally can scoop up the units. With an average of 16 cpu-days/calendar day, I have a potential of getting 144*16=6 years-and-change worth of units.

Well, seems fun to aim for the sapphire once the big machines are so benevolent as to finish the "A" and "B"'s. It would be just fantastic if they keep crunching the "A" units while the "C" units are released.

Of course, Beta runs and new projects and Murphy and whatever can and will mess up all this one way or the other. We'll see.

Re: DDDT2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

I will wait a little until things settle. This means tomorrow if all goes as expected I should get Sapphire for FA@H. Then I plan to get the one of HCC, and last HPF2. By then DDDT2 will have stabilized and I will switch to it. I will probably be out of the race for first Bronze, Silver etc...
I prefer to leave that sprint race to all those who are waiting in the starting blocks. Happy crunching have fun and: you have a race gentlemen. wink
