cut the mem req per job down to what it really is, 256k, let the manager do its job, if it don't know it can't do 8x256k with only 1 gb avail it needs fixing. in the mean time us single/dual cores will take up the slack.
is pretty sad when the mem req was set high "for a faster return" aka 4x what was really needed, and after 14 days still waiting on a mere 2000 wu. set the requirements to what they are, keep the return time at 10 days, and let the system work. |

Thanks for the change. Looking forward to crunching a few more than the lonely one received...

Uplinger,
Hmmm.... sounds like some of the earlier conversations we had about scheduling and dispatching work units finally got implemented... I've built a new machine (and have been away since the middle of November 2009 so I need to get my new machine all tuned up and ready to start crunching again.... Anyway, nice work. |

[ot]Ha, we missed you... We've at least 225,000 CPU years worth of work lined up for the next 730 days in various research projects, but know after that there will be allot more and very interesting stuff to say the least [can't tell you, else risking the polyester 2-piece dining set I have since last time spilling the beans ;>] [/ot]

1. New type A work units will be sent to reliable hosts only with a 7 day turnaround. This means they will get scheduled first on the grid to the generally faster 24/7 machines on the grid. With the demand for DDDT-2 work being so high right now the temtation is going to be to have a high cache setting. I would suggest to everyone to not set your cache setting too high. If you only select DDDT-2 work, after your buffer gets close to 7 days full you will be denied new WU but will continue hitting the server causing unnecessary overhead. Note that if you are a “Reliable” host that suggest that normally you have had your cache setting set low anyways. I wonder how the every long WU affects the “Reliable” hosts.
