Re: At this rate

Let's face it - too many crunchers are bored - Rice finished, then there was HFCC drawing to a close (hopefully temporary with another round in due course) and the much heralded major replacement for all the pent-up energy was DDDT2 - that has proved to be a rather impetuous and unruly 'child' that no-one has really tamed yet.....and such a taming might take several months, a few years or a couple of decades - is anyone really worried? - indeed, should anyone other than the scientists be worried? All we are doing is providing a helping hand, once they have got their heads around what they want (or need) to get out of the system. I've decided to chill out and let the machines run-on with all the rest of the offerings - when the DDDT2's reappear I will rejoyce until then I will relax...... and create global warming with my PC's!!!!!

Re: At this rate

Ironically, I think the next release will be CEP2! Dont know how that will go down with you?
You could still crunch towards FA@H, or between now and the next release DIY it:
Get yourself a personalised badge upgrade or two - 3, 4 or 5 years. wink
Anyway, have a bit of fun while you are chillin,

Re: At this rate

The problem with having more projects would be increased competition for badges. If there are more projects then the projects would be smaller and therefore shorter.
So the people with fewer cores would be less likely to get badges (you). What do you think your chances would be if a project only ran for a month or two?
You would be competing against badge hunters that want to reach 2years.

Re: At this rate

The odds would be low as with me and completing close to 33 days of crunching a day and that is small compaired to those with hundreds of cores running. it is all relative. I want a new toy (project) too and am a little bored, overheated (heat index Friday with my Davis weather station was 135) and ready for new project. Will try to "chill" out!

I believe you are incorrect. The longer a project runs the greater the opportunity for a cruncher with a lower RAC to earn a badge. in addition, there is no suggestion that any one project will be divided into 2 badges. This only happens if the original intent of the project is to have multiple phases.

The average cruncher (as Uplinger and I determined some months ago) has 2 cores running and therefore needs a project to run for 180+ days in order to get Emerald. Since WCG total capacity is basically fixed in size, each project will run longer if the capacity is shared by 6 projects rather than 5, etc. Therefore having DDDT2 and CEP2 running INCREASES the opportunity to earn badges, as does having active Betas.

Re: At this rate

Sorry, 'skgiven' I've missed something somewhere - what is CEP2? I'm pushing along with FA@H at the moment, aiming for Emerald in the next week or so and onward from there.....

Re: At this rate

Clean Energy Project 2 - It has not started yet!

A new project would attract everyone; trying to get a badge, so it would not last longer. People would just jump to the new project in fear of it ending early without them earning a badge.

Re: At this rate

yes with every new project you get people jumping over to the new project to get a minimum level badge for themselves.. for myself the minimum badge i like to go for is gold (90days) once i am there i decide what to do i try to work only 1 badge at a time so i can manage to get to the next one before a project ends
