New error type?

I have spotted a new error type (well new to me) only had two so far, spaced a few days apart and on different machines (but same OS, processor etc), both running latest 6.2.28 and same error text, as below:

<core_client_version>6.2.28</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
ERROR:: Exit at: .\nblist.cc line:711

</stderr_txt>

Has anyone else come across this? They stopped after the usual 0.1 to 0.3 minute, as before.....

Re: New error type?

I've had 12 HPF2 WUs error over the last 11 days that ran from 0.01 to 0.53 CPU hrs all with the exact same error code and exit line nbr.

I haven't saved anything to check further back but I believe this is what I've seen on almost all HPF2 error WUs I've had

Edit typos biggrin

Re: New error type?

/711 seems to have come in place of /401, except they show 90% less than latter. So far have an absolute 100% validation score on W7-32 bit on duo and Linux 64 bit with 6.10 64 bit client on quad in any imaginable WCG science combination. Running HPF2 in combo with HFCC & FAAH on W7-64 quad did give errors for a considerable fail percent, but none with HCC/RICE/HCMD2.

Re: New error type?

Thanks Sek - running W7 -64 on both of the i7 boxes these WU's errored on....haven't had a single error on any other WU's for a couple of months - certainly since starting to use the latest agent upgrade, until these two units came along. I just thought it might be worth asking to see if it was only my machines or if there is a more common thread elsewhere across the community...looks like there might be something in it, having seen the note from WPLACHY who has collected a few more - thanks for that!! John

PS They were both nl WU's......

Since I read these HPF2 horror error stories I don't remember having read a single one under any other OS than Windows ones.

Re: New error type?

Given the very wide use of Windows compared to other OS's, the probability of seeing both errors and reporting of errors must be greater - although am I correct in believing that different clients are run on other OS's? If so, could there also be a client code issue to consider, not just the inevitable 'Microsoft' factor (not to mention 64 bit device drivers???) !!!!

Re: New error type?

I have seen it a couple of times too on Win7 64-bit (client_version>6.2.28<). I was running both cores on my E8400 though, and I am now down to a single core. I haven't seen it for the week since then, but we will see.

And I never see it on my WinXP machine running a quad-core, but that is to be expected I think.

Re: New error type?

Yes, I have not seen a repeat to date (having raised it as an issue!!) - I agree with you Jim, the i7 multi-core W7 64 boxes were the culprits in both instances - the 2-core box running XP Pro just chugs along and cranks out the WU's 24/7 without a hitch.

Re: New error type?

I have received another batch of errors over the last couple of days - this time on 'no_ _ _ _ _ _ _ ' WU's - on one particular WU, there were 6 more error returns and still counting with repairs being sent out right, left and centre - same error msg again.
