Thank you for your reply! The problem isn't the power button light, but for how long my PCs are kept turned on and how they are used by my family members. I would like to keep the PCs almost unchanged and just use its unused CPU time while people are using them. Unfortunately, I think this project doesn't fit this scenario. :/ What should I do to opt out from it? Is just unchecking the box on "My Projects" enough? Or downloaded files, including the 200MB one, are kept on my PCs? Yes unchecking the CEP 2 box under your projects is is enough to stop receiving work from this project. If you are able to I would suggest completing any remaining tasks but if you're not able to feel free to abort them from under the task tab ![]() |

I had two WUs at more than 30% each. But then I turned off my PCs and both of them got back to 0%, so I asked for help here on the forums. Unfortunately, right now I have only those two WUs at 0%. :/

How long should I wait until some of the progress gets saved? Is it measured by the percentage done? If you are in Advanced View, select the work unit and click the Properties button. It will show you the last checkpoint time, if there isn't a time listed, it hasn't checkpointed yet and will reset to 0 if you don't hibernate/sleep the system. The first checkpoint for CEP is the longest and can often take upword of 6 hours on an average system but can very by extreme amounts, as others have said. Also, why was it necessary? Wouldn't be easier to just use the same saving intervals as the other projects? CEP tasks are very large and checkpointing more often would cause massive disk writes, which would lag your whole system and cause much more wear on your hard drive. To get around this, its setup to only checkpoint when one of its tasks finish. ...downloaded files, including the 200MB one, are kept on my PCs? I believe the project files don't get deleted, but all the task ones do. Looking in my BOINC folder, it looks like its under 200MB total for the CEP project files, but if that's a concern you can click "reset project" and it will clear out everything. *WARNING* that will clear out the files for ALL the WCG projects and all your active tasks. So you'll have to redownload everything for the projects you still have selected, therefore its advisable that you let all your active tasks finish (while you have "no new tasks" selected for WCG) and THEN do the reset. Again, you don't need to do this unless the couple, relatively small, leftover files are making a significant impact on your free disk space. Those 12 hour Work Unit Packs are very long for me. I need 3 days to run one pack. If that is not good then how I can stop receiving those long Work Units?

Unfortunately, all of the CEP2 tasks are pretty long, so if your host can't handle them in time you may have to remove CEP2 from your list of subprojects.

Horse39, didn't you disable the whole WCG project? I couldn't find a way to disable just one of its projects directly from BOINC. I think it's only possible through your account settings here on WCG's website.

In BOINC you can only remove the whole of WCG. To remove just one participant in WCG you need to change the settings under Device Profiles within WCG.
