Re: Windows Launch still July 17th?

I am running Boinc ver 6.2.28 on all 9 machines. Only 3 have the RAM & download speed indicated to receive DDDT2 and CEP2 and have been set to capture wu's.
Does the Boinc ver ALSO determine if a machine can/will participate?? Tnx, OL'43

07/17/10: TnxU,Sek. Will leave (well functioning) 6.2.28 in place and await availability of wu's. smile

No Sir, any client from 5.4.11 or there abouts that is able to handle SSL verification is fine (See Help on SSL). It's more often these days that the OS dictates what minimum version is installed and have it work properly. In that 6.2.28 functions perfectly fine on all windows versions through Windows 7, to include the 64 bit OS.

If on a 64 bit OS, you might consider looking at getting a 64 bit BOINC compile. Some things that are then processing faster.

Aren't there problems with the 6.10.xx on WCG?

[old]News to me. For Linux and Mac, WCG already has a link up to 6.10.17. For Windows it should follow soon, but don't expect that until the website device profiles have the matching new fields that have since shown in the 6.10 client local prefs.

Re: Windows Launch still July 17th?

My guess is the first week of August - based on the fact that I haven't seen a Beta test being performed and it'll take a little while to ensure that the servers can cope with the huge files that'll be involved biggrin

Maybe the beta test will coincide with the launch of the windows version on July 17th. Usually the first production version is beta software anyway... ;-)

Yup, SP1 you all might want to wait for, that absolutely do not want problems and since this is a total "manual" opt-in you have the effortless chance to not be exposed to the RFM release. :P

That sounds like a fair timeframe. That should give them time to fix the RC=0x4 bug in the linux version first. ... maybe. (I wonder if that's linux-specific, or whether it'll appear in the other versions too?)
