I get that periodically also on all 3 platforms I have committed to DDDT2: Win XP, Win 7, and Linux. But work finally starts trickling in, haven't had a work stoppage. praying

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Thanks, I'll try rebooting, considering I have to do it anyway after a patch from Microsoft!

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Rebooting has normally no impact.
The message reflects only the fact that there are more requests for DDDT2 WUs than available WUs.
The demanding hosts will repeat the request regularly and they will receive WUs as soon as available.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

normally would agree, but, normally if xp gets no work, committed etc type responses from server, ALL win boxes get it, this time both of us have xp boxes getting shut out, in my case almost 12 hrs, while other win os' have in my case downloaded over 40 wu. right after I rebooted xp box I got 5 wu on this box. Again, I agree, normally.

One for the "Strange but true" catagory

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

The validations are way way way behind the fetches it appears from what martin64 just wrote. ONLY 13k yesterday, 17,933 validations for the first 2 full days of rain.

For badges, these results total to 4.96 years. Extrapolating, the total for the 216k tasks would than be 60 years. That's a bunch of bronzes :O)

P.S. That's ~55 years worth still to complete... got about 1.8 days worth in cache, per thread. Hit them up, move them on (Rawhide)

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Could someone please clarify if "other platforms" means different operating systems (say Linux rather than XP), or if "other platforms" really means other systems (just different computers).
I was under the impression that it just meant different computer systems, but others seem to be formulating a different opinion.

Continue to like [me IMHO] proposition [can't think of a number to give it ;>] of ''If there is no work...'' to kick in *only* when cache is dry and cores go idle, then to fetch something within the minute. In your case, that'd be continued, unattended crunching for the duos too.

Can I suggest a refinement of your suggestion?
If there is no work, and at least one core/thread on your system has no work, fetch work from other projects, as defined within your default Profile. If not defined, or no work is available for that profile, accept tasks with the lowest system requirement.
Oh, and create more profiles when you are at it, pretty please biggrin

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

The term means: There was work for other homogeneous groups. Linux, Mac, Windows, PPC, but theoretically could also mean in context of HCMD2, a different speed group.

Of course, that enhancement proposal starts to function when any core goes idle. The client is then rattling the door a little harder. In 6.12 a work call would then be postponed until the upload is complete. Not sure that holds when cores have gone idle. X-linking to a default profile of alternate profile from the drop down list: might be easier to implement... on the other hand, see issues coding the scheduler to flip flop between the profile in force. Anyway, had a commitment before on this KISS type feature. Ask for a bell, then the next wants the whole carillon... systems normal.

More [standard] profiles is not a WCG case. Ask at the Berkeley Alpha mail list. At WCG you can create more, in-officiously, and name them anything you like [well with standard alpha/num character]. Search the forums... knreed even made a change to ''facilitate'' this this bug turned feature.
