Can you please start a new thread to expand on the errors [and anybody else join there on that topic], so we can leave the rain the rain.

Not AWOL, but "Wanted" were at noon some 145 thousand results of the 300K+ that were send outin this rain, the last ''originals'' leaving the feeder a good 24 hours ago. Wazzup? --//-- Hmm, nearly half of the available results are still "in process" - and this on a science that releases work units roughly once every year on Saturn? I can't imagine what might have happened to them... Apart from the obvious answer that we all know, we might consider some solutions. First and best of course would be to increase the work flow. I'm sure the scientists are doing all they can and there was recently a staffing transition, so no pressure here. Second and more plausible, the WCG admins could change the deadline structure to alleviate excessive cache sizes and get the results back to the scientists quicker so they could generate more work more quickly. Or the nuclear option. Change the distribution pattern to that of beta units. One unit per core. It's not like there is a shortage of available machines and this would get the results back even faster. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

Shrubbery... I think you nailed it to the wall... yes, very strange occurrences with this project... clueless what it could be
----------------------------------------![]() Anyway, I liked your post... it brought a little reality (techs/scientists... please take note) and humor to a project that is difficult to get WUs to crunch. CJSL |

I received 1365 WUs during this rain ...
----------------------------------------Valid: 690 Pending Validation: 108 In Progress: 525 Error: 32 Invalid: 8 Inconclusive: 1 Server Aborted: 1 Started with 1.5 days cache ... increased to 7.5 days two days before the rain ended. No problems getting steady work on my three machines. 5-6 days to clear my backlog ... crunching as fast as I can. [Edit 1 times, last edit by AgrFan at Jan 21, 2012 12:20:08 AM] |

Looks like I may actually reach Gold when the 14 WU still in PV jail is cleaned out - just 24 minutes over 90 days - fingers crossed.

Where do you get a list like this? just check the "Results Status" page, select Valid and count the Wus (15 results per page) ![]() Do the same for Pending Validation and so on |

When the rain came down, I managed to collected 2341 WUs.
----------------------------------------Valid: 1273 Pending Validation: 229 In Progress: 761 Error: 22 Invalid: 4 Server Aborted: 6 Detatched: 46 I lost a crunching station during the rain and had to rebuild it. It merged correctly, but the server naturally cancelled all the outstanding work it had in queue... Remaining work should clear the machines in less than 4 days. Some of my crunchers will complete their outstanding DDDT2 WUs in 2 days. I started with a bronze badge. I'm gold now, and hope to be ruby by the time everything is returned and validated. ![]() |

My cache was set to 2 days. The last device I have for this run is an AMD X4 840. The last WU it received was on 1/18, but as of today it still has 65 in IP. With an average compute time of 2.15 HRs per WU for each core, looks like my cache will be done in about 35 HRs (65 / 4 * 2.15 = 34.9375).
I did have the "running, high priority" situation with WUs in the middle of my cache just as someone else reported previously. I temporarily suspended some WUs that were below the high priority ones for about 1/2 a day to get things moving again at the top of the cache. Weird, so it appears somehow my 2 day cache turned into ~4.5 days for this device. ![]() BOINC client version: 6.12.34 for windows_x86_64 Processor: 4 AuthenticAMD AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 840 Processor [Family 16 Model 5 Stepping 3] OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Ultimate x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) Memory: 8.00 GB physical, 16.00 GB virtual Disk: 465.66 GB total, 414.59 GB free |
