BTW: We have a couple of important deadlines coming up, so there will be reduced blogging until mid-next-week.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

A great opportunity by the Penthalonies to learn about app_config.xml, so that concurrent running CEP2 tasks can be maxed, without overtaxing non-powerhouse systems... the <max_concurrent> feature also mentioned just now in a CEP2 questions thread [client 7.0.40 or higher required, latest general release 7.0.64/65 recommended]

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

And as a visiting Pentahalonie, I'm getting the following for the Linux host I just attempted to attach. Hopefully this is a short term dearth and not a predicate of how the Pentathalon will go. :)

Sat 04 May 2013 09:40:15 AM CDT | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU
Sat 04 May 2013 09:40:15 AM CDT | World Community Grid | [sched_op] CPU work request: 13826880.00 seconds; 16.00 devices
Sat 04 May 2013 09:40:16 AM CDT | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
Sat 04 May 2013 09:40:16 AM CDT | World Community Grid | [sched_op] Server version 701
Sat 04 May 2013 09:40:16 AM CDT | World Community Grid | No tasks sent
Sat 04 May 2013 09:40:16 AM CDT | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2

Looking forward to a successful weeklong run at the project work. :)

Where do I find app_config.xml on a Mac?

Thanks,

James.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

You need to go into the BOINC data directory, you set the location when you install, not sure what the mac default is, go into projects > www.worldcommunitygrid.org. In that folder you need to make a new file called app_config.xml with something similar to this
<app_config>
<app>
<name>cep2</name>
<max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>

Hope this helps

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Perfect. Thanks Yarensc.
Only thing I had to do to the file after creating it was to change the ownership. For anyone who wants to know, use:
sudo chown boinc_master:boinc_project /Library/Application\ Support/BOINC\ Data/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/app_config.xml

"No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2" so can't test it at the moment!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

It doesn't seem to be working.
If I have one task already downloaded for CEP2, when I try to update the Project it says, "No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2".

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Hello jlbrown@bordo.com.au,
I assume that your profile is set for this line "
Project Specific Settings
Number of workunits per host for
The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2? N"
so that N is >= 2?

Lawrence
