Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Roberto gave a virtual talk to 6th graders of Eton School in Mexico City entitled:

"Clean Energy Project: Finding Renewable Energy Materials Via Your Screensaver"

There were a lot of questions regarding the future of energy materials and the use of idle computer time for scientific purposes. We should have the presentation (in Spanish) up on the website soon!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

CEP2 has now accumulated more than 3,500 years of computing time! We also broke our daily record with nearly 19 years. Thanks so much everybody and keep crunching.

Next week, our REU summer students will arrive - let's see what we can do with them in CEP2.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Let us know how that goes! Our REU students start Mon. here in Iowa as well. Last year I gave a lecture on volunteer computing to the Biostatistics REU students, and the students in my research group all participated in WCG.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Dear kateiacy,
will do biggrin. REU students are great and it is a lot of fun to work with enthusiastic young students. It is just a shame that we don't get to keep them longer.
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Some of you may have noticed: the other day we had a little glitch in ganglia, the monitoring software for our servers. The good news is that the servers themselves were fine and everything works as it should.

Alan is still at the Equinox summit and he will appear on Canadian TV - twice. You can follow the online stream (www.wgsi.org and www.tvo.org) tonight at 8pm and tomorrow at 9am. The presentation tomorrow will mostly focus on the Clean Energy Project!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Ed Champness from the StarDrop team visited us today. We use StarDrop to analyze our results and we had a great discussion about data mining in drug discovery, model building, and Gaussian processes.
