Re: "The survivors"

My first 35mm did not have Auto mode so I had to learn how to do it with manual settings.
That was a Pentax and it did a good job for the price.
A good starter camera is the Pentax K-x.
If you want better than that look into Nikon or Canon.
Myself, I don't care for Minolta, Olympus, etc...

When I worked in Miami, FL it was easy to go to the airport or Miami Beach after work.
I spent a lot of time shooting photos after work.
It was 52 miles from work to home so there was no rush on my part to get into the traffic jams.

The reason for the interest in aerial photography is due to an interest in getting closer to wildlife, and access to places you just can't walk or climb to.
There is a lot of anti drone chatter but I don't plan on hovering over someones home or outside their window.
Some YouTube videos show what can be done with the DJI Phantom, and I like it.
Especially now that there are no film and processing costs involved.

Re: "The survivors"

FLASH! The National Weather Service has declared that winter weather might occur in winter.

Residents of Georgiania are urged to call the Governors office (1-800-ImAnIdiot) and advise them of this.
Also, contact the Mayor of Atlantiana (1-888-MeToo), in case freezing rain turns to ice.

To insure schoolkids are safe, and able to spend the night on a school bus, be sure to include the School Board (1-877-WeAre Idiots2) in this warning.

Don't forget to blame somebody else, such as the National Weather Service (1-800-WeWarnedYou!) devilish

Edit:
If things get rough, you can take refuge in government approved shelters, such as Home Depot and Walgreens. [Thanks, private businesses, for doing our job.

Thanks grumpy, we will keep an eye on the weather.

Governor Nathan Deal is from Gainesville and we are members of the same church.
If I see him I will be sure to pass along your FLASH! [And I promise you will get all of the credit.]

I don't know any of the other named people/organizations but tried to give em a call.
Can't get through to them on the telephone numbers provided because all circuits are busy, are bell rings no answer, falls back to dial tone, no dial tone, can't hear, can't be heard, or various recorded announcements.
So they are on their own.

It sure would be nice if they had a real phone company in Georgia.

Re: "The survivors"

I've had my pontoon boat in for service, and the marina called yesterday, to let me know it was ready.

With 8-12" of snow expected today, should i go to the lake early for a morning cruise?

For some reason, nobody else wants to go with me. cool

Re: "The survivors"

You should have the lake all to yourself unless the lake has Striped Bass--in that case there is always someone fishing.
Striper fisherman do not care about weather, they care about whether.

I have cleaned my truck off a couple times and it just keeps icing up again.
No snow at this time, just heavy sleet, which is accumulating quickly.
Every inch of glass is coated with ice.

Sidewalk and porch won't stay clean even with rock salt.
I know when I'm licked so no more fighting Mother Nature.

The best news here is that we have not had any power interruptions or trees come down.
I'm saving my firewood just in case we lose power.
My wife want's to convert both fireplaces to gas, she might be onto something.

Re: "The survivors"

The folks in Georgia are trying to keep their inclement weather to themselves.

If the folks in South Carolina could just keep their earthquakes to themselves.

At 10:23 PM there was a 4.1-4.4 quake near Edgefield, SC.
It was about 3 miles deep and was felt as far as Tennessee.

Congrats, RCC. This is quite an accomplishment.
At the current rate of exchange, this is worth $1.98 in bit coins.
Oh, wait - they were stolen. crying

If the folks in South Carolina could just keep their earthquakes to themselves.

This was out neighborly attempt to shake the ice off the trees.
You're quite welcome. biggrin
