Re: Thank you ski1939 - the same to you ♥

This is an absolutely lovely picture, ski1939
- and I think it looks exactly as you will look 15 years from now
- and I do hope to be on the safe side of infliction
- I better make it 16 years , tho
Is it a Norman Rockwell?
It could be.
This one must be just about the most warming for all of you Americans
Merry Christmas to you and yours, ski1939

- there was a special at Guggenheim ten years ago
- his art really makes you sentimental crying

Looks like the cover from a Saturday evening post Quite possible a Norman Rockwell

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

@ Scribe: OK, thank you biggrin
@ don den: The turkey one *is* a Norman Rockwell
- a classic
I posted that one myself in order to
compare it to the style of the one ski1939 posted, namely:

- but I never found out if that Santa is a Norman
- only that he looks like I imagine ski1939 will do in 15
- or in order not to inflict anything bad - 16 years from now
- would anybody know if it's a Norman Rockwell?

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

I filled in the inquiry they supplied from my hotel in New York
Well, to begin with they did not have one of our rooms ready
- so we drifted a little aimlessly around in the streets for several whiles
- they made that up to me by cancelling the fee I had already paid
for being on their wi-fi
- that did not go through, tho
- they made up for that by making me a Club Carlson member
- entitling me to free wi-fi forever wherever
Well, then I filled in that inquiry
- I did not give top marks except for a few items
- when they asked how they could have made my stay more pleasant
- I answered: "You could have killed that cockroach"
That resulted in their front desk director in asking me to:
"please accept a complimentary upgrade to one of our over-sized Superior Suites
the next time you make an ordinary reservation"
- I can live with that rose
Who wants to share all that space with me - and where? tongue
Radisson
EDIT: OK, upstairs Yvonne is in on this one since we have a Suite cool

BTW: If anybody goes to New York you will not be disappointed with eating at
rose Murray Hill Diner, 222 Lexington Ave, at 33rd Street
unless they change dramatically

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

I suspect that the whole world's cuisine is available within a short distance of anywhere in NY. I certainly get that impression though I have never been there.

Enjoy that "Paperwork"... to quote a friend.... You go girl!!

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

I suppose you're right OldChap.
The Murray Hill Diner is Greek in the principle,
but they carry many nationalities, if I may express it thusly
- Russian bortsj, French onion soup, Italian pastas, good old American pancakes
and a Greek baklava mmm.....mm,
which the Greek owner was smart enough to give us "on the house" at our first meal
thereby selling at least four breakfasts and one more dinner to us tongue

We didn't particularly seek ethnic restaurants but arrived with a few notes:
Tribeca Grill - owned by Robert de Niro
- excellent place, food that made the angels sing and mark you
at an affordable price for the prix fixe with exceptional service.
Mesa Grill - owned by Bobby Flay; I don't know him, but upstairs Yvonne does
- she watches his cooking programs when visiting her son in Houston, Texas.
Also here the food was good
- even as it was only a bar meal because of the time of day.
The buffet at The View at Marriott Marquis's 48th floor
was excellent at an affordable price also
- $35 inclusive of an invaluable view and attentive and friendly service.
The one we remember in order to forget is Alfredo - the Fettucini Alfredo inventor.
We should have ordered that pasta dish, because
the three-course New Year dinner was such an expensive $65 disappointment sad
The only delicious item was the Tiramisú tongue
Good beer was to be found as well.
Not only the old hat new Samuel Adams, but many that are not
- and I refer to item 9 in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's decree:
9. The cold, tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is
not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British
Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of
known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager.
New Zealand beer is also acceptable, as New Zealand is pound
for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth and it can
only be due to the beer. They are also part of the British
Commonwealth - see what it did for them. American brands
will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine, so that all
can be sold without risk of further confusion.

Brooklyn Lager at $8 tasted splendid and is also exempt from that decree rose

I took the liberty to inflict on you by e-mailing, OldChap,
since you are brave enough to list your address.
I would like to nick your banner
- but as it's in your sig, I asked pretty please ...
