Re: GPU Support: Post Your Problems/Questions Here

skgiven:

After reading everything on GPUgrid in regards to this, I must say that i came to this exact conclusion as well. That this card is geared for gaming, however, you refer to the 1/24 value of FP64, which is true, and is terrible, BUT the FP32 is still MUCH higher than the 5xx series, and the increase in power consumption is always nice.

Also, since on WCG the first GPU project will be running on FP32, this is not an issue, right?

I guess what I'm trying to say is it is ALL about whether the games you play (if you do) require (or prefer) NVIDIA based cards. I just recently switched over from PS3 to PC on battlefield 3, and this game prefers NVIDIA.

Although I will agree that for the purposes of crunching, AMD is the clear winner on both FP32 and FP64 tasks.

If GPUgrid ever opens up an AMD based project (not Donate) for their sciences, than I will begin to fill empty slots will 6xxx series cards. That way I'm covered if WCG does not have any projects available.

Until then it looks like it's time for me to start saving for either a 680 or wait a possible 6 months and buy a 685 after I have my Ivy bridge rig going.

Crunching on.....

Re: GPU Support: Post Your Problems/Questions Here

To accompany their new GTX680, EVGA has launched a whole new Precision app ... EVGA PrecisionX. It has a whole new look and some new features. Check it out here:

EDIT: Note, on my upgrade only my fan setting and clocks were carried forward on the upgrade. All other setting are defaults.

Is it right, the gpu beta is only avaiable if i choose HCC + beta + checkbox on "If my computer can process work on my graphics card, then please send me work to run on my graphics card for the projects that I have selected above."?

You do not have to check HCC, just beta and graphic card. There are no Beta's available now and there may not be more for a few weeks.

Re: GPU Support: Post Your Problems/Questions Here

I had a beta for the GPU a little while ago and it errored out. Now I have updated my device driver, and I don't think I am able to get another beta WU. Is that true or is it that there isn't anymore beta around. I have a quadro 1000M
