If people don't mind saying, i'd like to know how many computers people are running and what types, as well as average points per day.

Hi Dr. Mike,
All I have is a 3 year old quad AMD Athlon II 620 CPU running stock at 2.6 Ghz. This is a Phenom II with one level of cache cut out. I chose that because I was worried about cooling and was happy to pay less in order to keep the temperature down. Imagine my surprise when I turned it on and found that the stock cooling kept it 20C cooler than my old CPU with extra fan, etc. You lose track of just where the current technology is when you only buy a computer twice a decade. I could at least have bought a faster Phenom II. (The I5 was selling for an unjustified premium back then, or so it seemed to me.) Lawrence |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still...we are gettting a million points a day. So not too bad. Dr. Mike. I don't have any idea any more about what my machines are each producing. All told I have 21 machines running WCG. Some are atom processors (very low power) and some are I72600Ks and a lot in-between. Some of these are used by folks as their main machines but mostly they are crunching. They are scattered from Houston to out by Midland but most of them are in my home town where I can get to them easily. I use TeamViewer when I need to get to the remote ones. One of the machines has a high powered GPU in it in anticipation of the GPU project (HCC). Everyone have a great day! |

Hope everyone is having a good day.
----------------------------------------I got up late, and had to get ready for work. Didn't buy a computer today, so missed out on the tax free savings. :( I will probably buy the Alien Ware desktop I mentioned before. And perhaps in the future i'll find a crunching machine. titanuscomputers.com has a few machines that you can configure. expensive, yes. But something like 32 cores running 64 threads? almost an impossible dream.. Dr. Mike ![]() |

Another question, if you have several computers, how do you set them up? For video? For connecting to the internet?

This was translated into English from an article in the Prague newspaper Prager Zeitungon.
----------------------------------------“The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president.” Ain’t it the truth. ![]() |
