Re: Time for new project

If people start leaving, it will be hard to get them to come back. And I would love to be proven wrong at any point here.

If people start leaving while there is still work to be done, I'm not sure they had much motivation anyway. I don't see people leaving unless there is an extended period with no work at all.

Granted I'm sure there are a few crunchers with a "cancer only" agenda and those might take a look elsewhere.

Both my parents died from cancer. So, even thought "cancer agenda" is my priority, I am doing (and will do in the future) my best to support all sub-projects related to all cruel diseases affecting lives of many around the globe, but also ones trying to support people's health and quality of life like C4CW.

So, don't be selfish and narcissistic, be just egoistic. And shrub on biggrin

Cheers and NI! peace

Re: Time for new project

It feels like things are shutting down and it risks people moving on to other projects.

Things are not shutting down. There is plenty of work to be done. Also, in various posts, the admins and techs have indicated that there are other projects on the way. And if there are a couple of persons that might leave, they're either cancer specific crunchers (which I can understand) or near sighted crunchers who never cared (or understood) about the real purpose of the WCG. This is far from over...

Re: Time for new project

I believe most bioinformatics projects push forward the fundamental knowledge about protein functions and interactions.

the problem here is that there are not enough computers to participate with, and there are so many interesting and important projects (i assume other important and promising are Folding, Rosetta, SIMAP and some other)!

And the more computers you have, or the more friends you attach, the more time you keep staring on charts and looking for speed up :)

Re: Time for new project

From the recently updated News Article page;
We'€™re happy to announce that a new project from the Ontario Cancer Institute is in the works! Stay tuned for the reveal of the project name and description later this summer! There are several other projects in the pipeline, so rest assured that you will still be able to contribute to important research.

Re: Time for new project

Must be project described in the April 2013 HCC update. I liked this update. Would be nice if we had something that every 4-6 months.

To the WCG Team: Could you move the subforums for the projects that have completed to the "Completed Research" forum? HCC, HCMD2, DDDT2 and C4CW?

Thanks.

Great news indeed!
Bring it in. My CPUs hunger for battle against cancer.
I'm first in :-)

BTW what do you think the name for the new project will be?

Re: Time for new project

From what I remember form the HCC update, this new project is different from HCC so I doubt it will be called HCC2(assuming it is the one in the update).

C4CW? > CFSW!

(In past the moving was done with some purpose delay... whilst they're still 'freshly done', but... The times they are a changin)

Re: Time for new project

Well yes but DDDT2 ended back in March and HCMD2 has been stopped for a while(last result returned on January 2nd 2013) with the last science update dating back to August 2012. HCC and C4CW could stay for a little while longer though.

Good song, a cover though.

Thanks techs(HCC, HCMD2 and DDDT2 moved).
