Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Android Beta Test - March 5, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

Thanks for the feedback

Hopefully the beta results will point to where this is going wrong

Sometimes failure can be a success in pre-production.

We have started the validator for this beta. Sorry for the delay as we needed to make sure we captured all the data required.

Thanks,

OK long last and 15 out of 16 valid, really running 4 cores for this test. Too good to be true?

The one that has the pending verification had no additional copies, just 2 before the 3rd was required by the validator. My device had multiple unplugs from the mains which is under the then running client and settings equal to unloading and reloading.

Oh and please could you fix the device manager and device statistics to include the suffix so we know which device we're dealing with. The result status page is fine and shows the same name-truncated mac code at all other projects too.

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Android Beta Test - March 5, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

lavaflow, we do understand that we still have issues to address with faahv on android, and as you can see by this thread, we continue to work on resolving these. Volunteer mobile computing is such a new field and we were one of the first to go mobile, that it's not uncommon to come across such issues.

We see mobile computing as an investment in our future, so we're keen to get the issues on production resolved.

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Android Beta Test - March 5, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

9 out of 10 valid. 1 errored on the device and I have one pending verification

For me a great result all 4 cores running at the time.

But my wingmen and women haven't faired so well

But still it's progress :-)

Do you have an ETA for a second beta test? (understanding there's work in debugging behind the scenes)

Dave

The invalid rate is much lower than in production which is good, unfortunately there are still some errors to investigate. We are looking into these issues now and I will update as we learn more.

Thanks,

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Android Beta Test - March 5, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

Given the ungodly error rate at present of 6.7 copies for 1 valid to pass to the scientists, and I say 1 because this is a zero redundancy science for all we know, anything that approaches 15 of 16 or 9 of 10 valid should be moved forthwith into production. Here it is assumed the identical validator is used on the beta versus the production version. If you've got lots to learn, pick up the swift update method as is done for the agent. Buy yourself some time and credit for continuing like this is a near insulting.

Can't you move this application to production so that users can start seeing better results and keep working on those errors at the same time?

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Android Beta Test - March 5, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

I'm with Lavaflow and Falconet on that suggestion

It would be worth returning for with the hope of 10 out of 10 in the near future.

Currently it's pointless in every sense

(SIMAPING)

WCG is home for me, this frugal Son will return at the first opportunity

(same with the GPU)

When could we reasonably expect to see Beta 2?
