My success rate in live is nothing like the success rate I saw with the Beta
----------------------------------------I am having computation error after error through the exit 195 issue That said the other alternative are Valids What has changed, apart from WU size, between the Beta and 716 going live? I have uninstalled advanced task killer and agent which manage the android apps without my input. But neither should have been involved with BOINC. ..and shifted down to 3 cores (They didn't need Jim anyway) Hoping for more success Dave ![]() |

Dared fetching 4 which came with the new logo. All _0 or _1 originals, new 7.16.
Two went with signal 11 well into the job, some time apart, but some heavy things were going on at the time. The third went valid and fourth is waiting on wingman. No 195s so far on 7.16. The agent is set to suspend when load is greater than 50%. Lowered it to 40% and will see how the next 4 fare. Rather have the agent pause more often than jobs going out with any of these signal codes. Downside, see some very long checkpoint intervals and thus when stop and resume, see large drop backs in the progress percent. No setting to retain in memory available. Unrelated, did notice that with arrival of the new compile, the slideshow set had 4 old logo images removed, never understood why there were 4 duplicates, and substituted with one new logo on pitch black background. |

nope this is nothing like the beta
----------------------------------------How was the work sliced up for the beta? Did it really create valid science output or was it carefully crafted ? Many WU in live getting stuck at 55% I know we wanted progress and pushed for the beta But this is not the same experience What changed? ![]() |

nope this is nothing like the beta How was the work sliced up for the beta? This was a production batch, but 100 of them were sliced small. Which I think masked the problem. Did it really create valid science output or was it carefully crafted ? Yes the results were valid in beta. Many WU in live getting stuck at 55% I know we wanted progress and pushed for the beta But this is not the same experience What changed? We are working towards having multiple sized work units in the future. This would mean that slower devices like Android will have less jobs per work unit decreasing the chances of the problem from happening. We are still investigating why it's happening, but out of the machines we have for testing only one of them encounters the problem and it's very infrequent when it does. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks Uplinger
----------------------------------------Do you know when this WU sizing will be implemented? I briefly tried crunching a WCG WU or 2 on android last week but it is still hit and miss. Is there any news on progress towards to largely fault free android crunching experience? (Kevin will be missed. But 10 years of around the clock commitment with 78,344 active crunchers on your back while you try restore that server, having kept an uptime way in excess of 99%, means he's a true hero in my book ![]() Dave ![]() |

![]() Now displayed in it's new colour scheme... but could someone explain what is the point of continuing to provide the android client for the World Community Grid if my experience is typical? ![]() |

We are going to be doing another test for android to hopefully decrease the number of errors on FAHV on android. There are other devices that do not have the same experience that you are having, but the error rate is way too high i agree.
Thanks, -Uplinger |
