Propose the technicians use an 'In Progress' control per machine [they can as can be done with the beta program]. Only give the equivalent of 2x cores. This way all get some modicum of chance to fetch a few and speed up the quorum complete chance. I think this is an excellent idea. In fact, I am going to quit OET1 until the flow becomes more reliable. For some reason several of my crunchers have continued to receive and stay full of OET WUs which is an embarassment. My cache has enough to get a sapphire badge and I won't be aborting those, but I will leave new WUs to others, for now. Good luck. |

Yes, I totally agree - this idea proposed by SekeRob, is truly an excellent idea. I'd also like to thank deltavee for respecting the fact that, currently, there are so few of these WU's around, and allowing others a chance at progressing towards their goals. ![]() |

I've been crunching WCG for a number of years now, and am well aware that there are other projects so I always keep at least two checked so if one has no work hopefully the other one will.
----------------------------------------What I don't quite understand is the logic behind issuing a global request for people to crunch a new project that obviously isn't ready for prime time yet? Why not hold off until everything works then make the announcement, rather than annoying people for no good reason? |

As one of the little guys, I would like to get a few OET WUs to crunch - haven't gotten one yet even though I've opened myself up to them since the initial announcement the they were going live (I did get six Beta WUs across two beta runs, so, at least I got some action there).
Given how the Beta WUs ran (or how oddly some did), I'm kind of curious to see how the production WUs would fare, but so far - nada. I've even tried going exclusive on EOT this morning to try to force some work only to get a message that the queue was dry. Oh well, I'll just be patient. It takes 21 calendar days to be sure you don't pass one Ebola to others, maybe it takes 21 calendar days to get an OET WU to crunch too.... ![]() |

It looks like the _rigid_ version of work units is capped to ~20K per day or 5000 per 6 hour block; see http://bit.ly/WCGOET1. This in hopes WCG can ride trickle distribution through till the _flexible_ can be issues with periodical checkpointed, if it can be done. If not, this will change the distribution considerations substantially [Fear, quite certain actually, these flex types can not be split up in smaller work units at that]

Sorry for the slight tangent, but: Where can one find the messages quoted below? My BOINC client used to have a "Messages" tab, but after an update many moons ago, it was replaced by a a "Notices" tab which seems pretty useless and rarely if ever contains any information. The kind of activity log quoted below, which used to be in Messages, is no longer.
Thanks for any guidance! *J 12/3/2014 9:32:44 AM | World Community Grid | update requested by user 12/3/2014 9:32:45 AM | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 12/3/2014 9:32:45 AM | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU 12/3/2014 9:32:47 AM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 12/3/2014 9:32:47 AM | World Community Grid | No tasks sent 12/3/2014 9:32:47 AM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Outsmart Ebola Together 12/3/2014 9:32:47 AM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for the applications you have selected. |

after using the fix suggested in the BOINC client support forum (and using the correct weak project key) I successfully attached back to WCG. Now to see if that fixes the no WUs problem (I'm getting them on 2 other machines).
