I seem to get them regularly on my husband's Windows machine but they are few and far between on my own Linux boxes.

I just did a check on my machines. Of the 47 wu in progress, just 3 are oet.
The units are there, but patience is useful. ![]() |

I seem to get them regularly on my husband's Windows machine but they are few and far between on my own Linux boxes. By me it is exactly the contrary: Windows machines do not really fetch OET and 2 Linux machines do fetch a couple of OET WUs from time to time. |

Sandvika wrote: Lucky? No. Focusing exclusively on OET at the expense of being idle much of the time? Probably. I'm getting on average 1 OET WU a day in my mix, but my PC's not idling at all. ![]() Idle can be avoided with (lot of) babysitting: 1. Set your cache to, e.g. 1.5 - 2 days 2. Download other sub-projects' tasks 3. Change your Device profile to OET1 only (do not forget to turn "If there is no work available for the project(s) I have selected above, please send me work from another project." off) 4. Increase your cache to, e.g. 2.5 days When running out of tasks in your queue, repeat points 1. - 4. ![]() With this method I am getting quite good number of OET1 WU's (shrubbing them on 1 rig only). Branjo, thanks for the tip... I should have remembered about that "babysitting" technique... I'm pretty sure that I have implemented it before. Anyway, thanks again !

I FINALLY managed to get a bunch of OET WUs this afternoon. I had some UMG1 and MCM1 WUs crunching with several hours to go, so I manually set things to OET only and set my cache up to 3 days. And finally five hours later it hit pocket of them and pilled tem up in my queue. I did finish 2 of them already and they seem to at least complete fairly quickly. I'll see how soon one or more of them get marked valid to finally get OET listed on my contribution list with something over 0 hours - probably will get there sometime tomorrow.

I did a quick count. I managed to get about 28 WUs overall today. My laptop is finishing some so far about 4 hours, so by the time I'm done with this small number of OET WUs, I should have maybe 4.5 - 5.0 days of credit. So I guess I'll have to do this sort of stuff again the next two weekends to see if I can get to a Bronze badge before the end of 2014.

You can do this kind of babysitting even if you do not have an access to the computer: 1. Set your cache to, e.g. 3 days 2. Fill it with non-OET1 WU's 3. Keep only OET1 in your Device profile You have 2 - 2.5 days for fishing (while your queue get dried - you can check it in My Contribution / Results Status, filter by Device and "In Progress" tasks), then log-in via your web browser to WCG and repeat points 2. (add non-OET1 sciences in Device profile, wait approximately half a day) and 3. Cheers ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Shrubbing@Home since January 5 2006 ![]() |
