Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

Looking to expand my WCG work. Right now I'm running five Rikomagic 802IV TV sticks and am contemplating the new RKM V5 stick. Is there anything better and/or cheaper on the market? They need to be silent, so no fans.

Better? No. Cheaper? Yes.
Quad Core for $45.

I bought a couple of quad core tablets from them last year for $65 each, and even though they are of cheapo construction, they are still crunching.

edit- yesterday's results on one of them.

Terrible on points but still 4 days runtime.

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

I have considered buying some of these sticks. How are you running 5 at once? Pluging them into 5 diff TVs or monitors? Also, good is the CPU for WUs? My older phones and Tabs are taking 8-20 hours to do a WU. I do not want to get sticks that take 2 or more days.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

The sticks I use will run without being plugged in to a TV or monitor, but two of the five need to be plugged in so they can start, then I can unplug them again. The FAHV WUs take 4-5 hours, the OET1 WUs around 9 hours. The power usage is about 4W each. I have opened them and added a small heatsink. They run at 1200-1400MHz.

I have installed the Droid VNC server, so I can run them headless. The Boinc program can also be administered from the Boinc installation on my desktop PC.

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

Thanks. I haven't looked too deeply into the Rockchip RK32xx chip but the big.SMALL Arm theory has two cores at full speed and 2 at lower MHZ. If that is true, wouldn't that be slower for WCG?

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

I've been running an Odroid-C1 for a week to see what it can do and I've just ordered another, this one together with their eMMC module. The first one runs off a microsd card.

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

The Rikomagics for $55-65 are probably the best choice. They are quad core and wireless and do not need flash SD cards as they already have all you need to run Boinc.

Thoughts?

Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

I bought the XU Lite board and am running 4.4.4 with Boinc. I shows 8 WUs running but the CPU monitoring via the settings tab only shows 4 cores running. The 1300Mhz cores are running but the 1400Mhz cores are not. Do I need to change a setting to run all 8 cores or are the CPU stats incorrect?

This board is very nice and fast.
